Hello there Sunday, you wonderful old soul. I can hardly believe that it’s already time to pen this post! (What’s new, eh?) Blog post introduction cliches aside, it’s been quite the week in England. Storm Doris literally knocked our socks off and blew our family home’s garden fences down. My work week has been thrown into total disarray and I’m currently working my way through the worst bout of Blogger’s Block ever. It’s so easy to constantly berate yourself for not being on it 24/7 with polished Instagrams at very-precise-thank-you times every day and blog posts scheduled every single day, but that’s never been my style. I just have to remind myself of that. I’ve also been busy planning ahead for Something House Shaped and even a potential family holiday to New York later this year! Oh you have been a busy one, February.

Here’s what week four of February has to say for itself:

一. Let me tell you now, ladies: Monday is the new Friday. I’m certain of it. Planning dinner with other twenty-something’s these days inevitably means that, once in a while, you’ll just need to head out-out on a Monday. I hadn’t seen Hanh and Cherie in the longest time and so we headed out to Rosa’s Thai Kitchen for a Thai feast and almighty catch-up. I just love hanging out with these girls and chatting everything from blogging to travel plans, careers to dating. We covered everything. Seriously, blogger friends are the best.

二. This week was the start of trialling a new ‘way to work’. Daisybf now has Mondays and Tuesdays off work and so it’s taking a little bit of adjustment around these parts. I’m lucky enough to be able to work at my own pace, give or take a few deadlines, and so this week saw me get up early and start work at 7am on Monday before having a bonus weekend and then working right the way through until last night. And? It’s not actually that bad. In fact, I’ve been the busiest bee!

三. I’ve seen a real change in my fitness levels this week. It’s been about 6 weeks since I started barre classes and I’m really getting the hang of it! I pretty much preach about it to everybody - in all good ways, of course - and couldn’t sing its’ praises enough. I nailed 32 push-ups this week, for goodness’ sake! I’ve penned a bit of a fitness update and bonus haul that’ll go up next week, FYI! I’ve also managed to whittle my caffeine intake down to just one cup of the good stuff a day. We’re getting there…

四. I’m not sure if I mentioned this on the blog but my Mama went to Hong Kong last week to sign some documents. And she’s finally home! With new beauty goodies in tow! Nothing. Better. It also got me to thinking that I should probably add to my Hong Kong city guide series, right?

五. If you follow me on Twitter, you’ll probably already know that I’ve been having my life wrecked by The Sims 4 this week. The addiction continues and it is STRONG. I’ve mostly been playing City Living and have managed to move three households into new, bigger places - I even managed to get a household in the Old Salt House! My next mission is to move my beloved Rowelle family into a bona fide house in Oasis Springs, sans cheats. (#motherlode)

How was your week?

Links I’ve Loved:

  • My friend Kristabel wrote a mind-blowingly great piece this week entitled ‘Black, British & Blogging: My Experience’ which was possibly the greatest thing I read this week. In it she discusses her experiences on race and diversity within the industry and finding her identity. I found it deeply relatable and it really helps to open up the race discussion around the emerging blogging industry.
  • Dani wrote this beautifully evocative post full of photos and simple captions of everyday moments. I’m a strong advocate of embracing happiness through the smaller things and just loved it!
  • How beautiful does Jazz look in this outfit post?!
  • With Shrove Tuesday (a.k.a. Pancake Day!) just around the corner, here’s an awesome vegan recipe from Lauren to try out. Her Fluffy Vegan Biscoff Pancakes look absolutely to-do for!
  • I’m absolutely dying to try this recipe for Shrimp Po Boys with Avocado Mango Slaw on Half Baked Harvest. And whilst I’m here, this blog is one of my all-time favourite food blogs.
  • I came across this adorable series of illustrations this morning. Created by Korean artist Puuung, they depict the nonsensical moments of being in love. So cute!
