Mint green coat, Sammydress.co.uk; Monochrome square print camisole, River Island; Pale pink pleated skirt, River Island; Glitter toecap ballerinas, Zara; Necklaces, both c/o Little Nell; Lips, CHANEL Rouge Allure in 'Gabrielle'; Mulberry Alexa in Petticoat White.

When the pastels trend amped itself up for SS14, my fashion-inclined friends were positively fawning over me and it, and marrying us up for the distant spring future. But I wasn't so convinced. Pour me a heavy palette of navy/black/grey/red any day. And then I got to some not-so-deep thinking about my ever-changing sartorial palate...

And then I bought a mint green coat.

And maybe a candyfloss hued skirt.

And, actually, my friends just know me far too well.

---

This coat is easily the showstopper of my SS14 wardrobe. It screams softly shouts a hailing new trend and has effortlessly updated my wardrobe. I must also interject here that it paves the way for the long overdue return of colour to said wardrobe.

Of course for its' Daisybutter debut I had to go all out. I pretty much pounced on this skirt when I saw it, the structured skater shape just slots right in to the clothing family. I teamed it with my monochrome square cami (also by River Island) and added a necklace for once, because there's something about dipping my toe back into pastels that makes me want to look as polished as poss.

How are you feeling about the freshened-up pastels trend? A look for you too?

    1. Thank you so much Laura! I thought for a moment I'd be permanently stuck with my dark colour palette, but I've really been embracing SS14 this season (:

  5. This colour is gorgeous on you! I have to admit being a little scared of pastels myself, though the weather recently has given me an extra mood boost to try them out again xoxo

    1. Thank you Ria! I think you have to select the shade carefully and make sure you style it so it isn't too airy fairy... adding a true red lip definitely helped this to stop being too Princess Marshmallow ;) x

  6. I have never disliked the pastel trend, but a bit like you - pass me the greys and navys anyday because well it's pretty easy right! BUT since seeing you in this pastel ensemble, which I must add is utterly beautiful and oh so dreamy, I now may be converted - although wait, I look like I'm basically dead in pastels. So I guess I'll just have to live through you and your beautiful pastel clothes. Although maybe I'll just steal the coat? And the skirt? xx

  15. Such a sweet look! The main reason I don't have any pastels in my wardrobe is because I've got no idea how to incorporate them into my navy/black/red palette of the moment.
