Photographs by Elodie Russo. Printed cropped top, Topshop; Black maxi dress, Miss Selfridge; Susie Deva heeled sandals, c/o Clarks; Lime green make-up bag/clutch, Whistles; Necklaces, both c/o Little Nell Jewellery; Lips, Rimmel Apocalips in ‘Stellar’.

It has to be said: ditching my coat in favour of a cropped top, maxi skirt and stunningly blue skies for a Moroccan getaway was the best feeling ever. Alongside Sarah, Tanya, Elodie and Sarah, I escaped over to Essaouira, Morocco last Friday for a much-needed break and we had the best girls’ holiday. I’ll be back with a series of posts about the trip soon, but to ease myself back into the blog, here’s an outfit Elodie shot for me in our riad.
riad ˈriːad/ (n.) - in Morocco, a large traditional house built around a central courtyard, often converted into a hotel.

Keeping with the culture and clothing ‘expectations’ in Morocco, I covered up a fair bit for the duration of our travels. A maxi dress layered underneath my printed cropped top provided a nice base to combat warmer weather whilst looking conservative, and of course I had a jacket on when venturing into the Medina. I also layered two of my favourite necklaces by Little Nell for a touch of style - holidays are always a tough one to weather in terms of accessorising, but these were both easy to transport in a little pouch. The Gold Karma Circle Necklace is my absolute go-to at the moment!

My shoes were gifted to me by Clarks shortly before I finished wedging my things in a suitcase packing my holiday wardrobe. I sacrificed a jumper (more on that later…) in order to get these in there and wore them for a total of about 4 hours on our last day. Go figure. But seriously, they’re OH so comfy and I just love the patent and suede texture mix. Classic Clarks comfort teemed with a new season twist, and I must admit I’m feeling good vibes towards that brand for the first time in a long time.

---

As I mentioned, I’m busy compiling lots of travel blog posts at the moment, as well as getting excited for my birthday on Sunday! The remainder of my week is certainly going to be spent listening to Taylor Swift’s ’22’ on repeat, spamming up Instagram again, seeing one of my best girls Florence for drinks, catching up with Winnie, Mandy and Zoe… oh and making one big, big purchase. All my love ladies, share your stories and new posts with me -- I can’t wait to catch up with you all too! x

  18. Michelle you look lovely! I'm heading to Morocco next month and I'm so, so excited! I'll be staying in Marrakech, but I've been thinking through what to wear as to stay conservative yet practical for the heat out there. Your riad looks so colourful and lovely! I'm trying to sway everyone to paying a bit more money for a riad over staying in a hostel!
