Daisybutter - UK Style and Fashion Blog: winter skincare routine, asian skincare, whitening skincare recommendations
Skincare regime to whiten, brighten, hydrate and restore radiance to the skin.

If there’s anything living in the UK for twenty two years has taught me, it’s that the winter is always coming, it’s always here, and the entire escapade is a work in progress. Top of my checklist for surviving the winter is to get that skincare regime on the straight and narrow, with brightening and moisture replenishing properties kept in check. Here’s my 2014 take on the saga:

L’Oreal Paris Skin Perfection 15 Second Miracle Cleansing Oil (£7.99): At the moment, my beloved Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil has been back seated whilst a more affordable option is in play. The L’Oreal version is the best drugstore cleansing oil that I’ve tried - a lightweight and non-greasy oil that removes the toughest mascara and red lips, whilst balancing the moisture levels of your skin.

Kiehl’s Washable Cleansing Milk (£18): Hands down my favourite cleanser, Kiehl’s brings it across the board for skincare with my particular skin type. I’ve got a full review of this baby here but to reiterate, the cleansing milk does wonders for stripping traces of dirt, makeup and more from the skin. As a long term commuter into London and back, I can vouch for it doing a good ol’ job at anti-skin pollution too. To apply, I use a 2p sized amount of product pressed into the skin, leave for about 3-4 minutes and then wash away with a warm damp muslin cloth.

Exfoliate, exfoliate
The Saem Dr Beauty Micro-Peel Soft Gel: Another of my all-time favourite skincare products, this has recently been swapped back in to the regime. This exfoliator has more of a gel consistency than most, with delicate flake particles that gently buff away at dead skin cells. It has the best skincare scent I’ve ever smelt and I’m going to stockpile more tubes of this when I next return to Hong Kong!

Kiehl’s Ultra Face Toner (£16.50): Now I’ve only been test running this toner for 2 months, but I already know I’ll need to buy into the full size soon. I’m a huge fan of toner to refresh and give your skin an extra squeaky clean swipe: this step comes in handy for removing languishing cleanser remains and to prep the skin for its’ moisture.

Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado (£20): Late nights and early mornings are a bit of a thing when you’re me. To counteract my oddball hours founded from a love for marathoning K-dramas and anime, this eye treatment is a heavy duty saviour. I apply a teeny tiny amount with my ring finger underneath and around each eye before bed, and it helps to reduce dark circles and puffiness. Two thumbs up! I’m in the market for a daytime eye cream now, so point me to your recommendations in the comments please!

Jurlique Balancing Day Cream: My current day moisturiser is one by Jurlique. My skin is fairly normal to dry with a tendency to get on the dry side throughout the day, and it has completely stabilised again since using this. A small but thick blob warmed up between the fingers and gently pressed into the skin and neck goes a long way and gives my skin a dewy and radiant finish.

Laneige Water Sleeping Pack EX (£14.98): If you haven’t already heard of this overnight mask pack, then where have you been?! Another long time favourite, this is a gel textured ‘mask’ offering intense hydration, vitality and a brightening/whitening effect. The signature Laneige snow water science gives a great moisture boost and I love using this nightly before bed to really rehydrate the skin.

Treatments & Masks
My Beauty Diary Sheet Mask (price varies): Sheet masks are my favourite way to pamper my skin. I’m not a fan of clay masks that need to be washed away and end up all over the bathroom… these sheet masks can be plopped onto the face pre-bath, left on as you soak and then removed 20 minutes later. Perfect. My favourites by My Beauty Diary are the Black Pearl, Q10, Aloe Vera and Whitening masks.

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate (£36): Forgive me beauty world for I have sinned. I’ll confess: I’ve never been much of a serum and oils girl. My skin has been pretty good without, but following the use of a sample, I picked up a full size to pamper my skin weekly. As I mentioned, my skin doesn’t ‘need’ this concentrate so I’ll be using this sporadically when my skin feels a little battered or under the weather. Truly recommend for any skin type.
FYI: I’m the owner of normal to dry skin that tends to get dehydrated, I’ve never suffered with acne and my natural skin tone is a light olive one. All of these products were purchased with my own money.

  1. I couldn't help but laugh, "winter is coming," my Game of Thrones nerdiness is getting ready for April.
Kiehl's has such lovely products, I too adore their eye cream.

    1. Hahah ;) I've become such a Kiehl's fangirl recently, absolutely love the eye cream and Midnight Recovery Concentrate, both are doing wonders against the winter cold! x
