Daisybutter - UK Style and Fashion Blog: gift guide, secret santa ideas, presents for under £15

Everyone's favourite time of the year is upon us and my Advent calendar is already awaiting me by the year-round fairy lights that sum up our living room decor. I'm here with a handy four-part gift series for those niggly gift receivers that are just impossible to buy for...

---

Today we’re talking Secret Santa gifting. We’ve all been there: crossing our fingers that we don’t get that impossible-to-buy-for pal in the friendship group, dipping your hand into the very technically created masterpiece of a SS hat… and getting someone who is seemingly scribed off the Nice List. Coupled with pesky budgets and deadlines, I can guarantee that 75% of you still haven’t picked up a £5 gift for the last day in the office. Am I right or am I right?!

Essie Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Duo (£12.99): Let’s ease into the guide with a pretty obvious one. If your budget is £15 or if you’re willing to part with 3 days worth of afternoon treat money and use a rogue piece of paper to wrap the pressie up, I’m all about the Essie duo. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star features Bobbing for Baubles - hands down my favourite creamy navy shade - and Set in Stones, a hexagonal fleck glitter topcoat. The ideal way to ease someone into Essie, give them a nail colour choice for the office Christmas party or add to their collections.

Man Repeller: Seeking Love, Finding Overalls by Leandra Medine (RRP £15.99): For the friends-centric Secret Santa, I reckon this tome would sit nicely in a stocking. While I’m yet to read it (got my fingers crossed that a savvy family member will read this here post…), I hear it’s a witty, printed extension of Leandra’s frankly amazing blog. Of course there’s a Kindle version too but whatevs, I’m advocating paper right now.

Colour Me Good: Ryan Gosling (RRP £5.40): Need I say more?! If you got a female of ANY sort in the office lucky draw, this is a surefire novelty hit. Wile away the afternoons in the build up to Christmas by colouring the Gosling in in highlighters and red pen. You know it’s the right thing to do!

Stackable Rings (£5-£20): For a more stylish Secret Santa offering, up the ante and pop some stackable rings into a mini black velvet bag for a worthwhile present. I’m still a huge fan of stackable rings and Catbird is my first port of call as well Faye’s little baby - The Bohemian Collective.

Lady and Lion Custom Illustrated Compact Mirror (£16.50): Katie’s Etsy store seems to be on a hiatus at the moment but I absolutely LOVE Lady and Lion’s custom compact mirrors. Simply pop a photo of the friend/family member in question and Katie will illustrate the photo and pop it on a pretty darn good quality compact mirror. I did this for one of my best friends, Emily, earlier in the year and she LOVED it.

DIY Phonecase (£The world is your oyster): I’ve been super taken by clear phonecases recently. Yup. Clear. As long as you know which phone your Secret Santa uses and their favourite colour or a singular interest of theirs, this one is easy. Lacquer some clear-drying glue on the inside and sprinkle some glitter on top in a haphazard, ombre inspired look. Simple! Or paste in a super cheesetastic snap via Pinterest of one of their known interests. eBay is of course your bread and butter for that ol’ clear case.

  5. I love the Essie set, those polishes will look so good together! The Gosling book is still so strange to me, the guy is well-known, but not so much that everyone I know is all omghe'ssohot Johnny Depp/Brad Pitt style XD
