45SEVEN Contrast Trim Single Button Coat, YesStyle.co.uk; Grey ‘Love love love’ motif sweater, Illustrated People at Topshop; Straight leg mid wash jeans, Miss Selfridge (really old); Boots, c/o Linzi Shoes; Lips, Rimmel Kate Moss Matte lipstick in 111 - Kiss of Life; Osiris B38 glasses, c/o Specsavers; Nails, Models Own Champagne.

Coat fever has well and truly hit me this year. It isn’t a revelation to anyone that coats are a thing during December in England. Of course it’s a thing unless frostbite is your thing. Last week in my outfit-free blogging schedule I introduced you to the newest addition to the Chai Coat Clan - and here she is.

This is the first time I’ve owned a black coat in my entire life, bar the faux fur number I have. Lemme tell ya, I’m feeling sophisticated in it. Up to the point where I trip over that same uneven pavement near work anyway. The Contrast Trim Coat by 45SEVEN at YesStyle hasn't left my shoulders in over a week. It’s lightweight yet warm at the same time, meaning it’s pretty easy to squish myself into that awkward middle-of-three-seats seat on my train too. The wide lapels on the front are so darling and the collar can be turned up for neck warmth and to up the ante a little - never have I felt more fashunn.

Underneath, this is my go-to for a I-didn’t-even-try look. My faithful Illustrated People motif sweater, Miss Selfridge jeans circa 2007 and my heeled studded Chelsea boots. There’s something about grey (whether dark or light) and denim that is so effortlessly chic, easy to wear and get right every time, and manifest a Scandi-Parisian charm. Next on my grey sweater hitlist is a slice of Zoe Karssen. Mmm.

I guess now would also be a good time to announce some life changes too! I have a new job!! Yup -- I’m hanging up my freelance socks, very sadly leaving my Arcadia girls and waving a swift and sad farewell to London. I’m super excited about my new position and can’t wait to get stuck in in the New Year when I start. Yay for fresh starts and change! (:
