Sometime last week my sister and I pursued The Great Outdoors for some truly autumnal settings. Coupled with some of those deeper-than-deep conversations that covered all bases from nail colours to the concept of time, we had a pretty good time ambling around one of my favourite places in our hometown...

White mohair jumper, H&M; Monochrome polka dot pinafore dress, Miss Selfridge; Patent loafers, c/o New Look; Tan scallop edge coat, Veeko (in Hong Kong); Necklace, H&M.

I thought I’d dig out my Miss Selfridge pinafore again for some reason. I bought this as my ‘something new’ at the beginning of the Lunar (Chinese) year and I’d like to think it brings me some luck and fortune… Sadly not, I definitely got pounced on by dogs - albeit cute ones! - whilst shooting this outfit video. Either way, I’m still really enjoying wearing the pinafore: it’s quite heavy in texture which makes it okay for winter dressing. Underneath I’ve switched up graphic tees and sheer collared shirts (see here) for my white mohair jumper. Mohair. From H&M. They just don’t do ‘em like this anymore kids.

By the way, have I sung my praises for these patent loafers yet on the blog? Because if not, I’m gonna do it now. I snapped these up before London Fashion Week SS14 with some press credit I had left over, because I wanted to get a slice of that Japanese mannish schoolgirl aesthetic in my own wardrobe. The chunky cleated sole and patent uppers are literally perfect for adding Man Repeller points to my atypical floaty dresses.

---

I’ve been in Southampton for the weekend to see my best friend Ebs and our cat, indulge in some pizza eating and gossip swapping, and enjoy being in my old student playground once more. I hardly believed it when people said school/college/Uni were some of the best years of your life but now I can wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment. I miss playing ‘how many dinner options can you find for under £3.78?’ and especially midnight adventures with the girls (and occasionally my cat).

I also stopped by to see Mandy for another of our famous Sunday lunch dates. To wrap up my weekend, I'd planned to see my friend Heather for a lol-tastic round-up and reminisce of some of our first year antics. Antics that included lift roulette (soz to the many people we annoyed at 3am), Pokemon parties (that led to noise complaints…) and watching Dragonball videos until 7am (after which I then had to swing off to a Fashion and Semiotics lecture). The good times.

PS. Lemme know what you think of potential video content-ness here at Daisybutter. I’m considering some style videos, lookbooks and event vlogs at the moment and would LOVE your feedback/ideas. x

  5. I very much enjoyed the video alongside your outfit pics - more! I've decided my wardrobe now needs a camel coloured coat to complete it. I love the scallop edge (coats can be so boring IMO!) but it's so 'HK'! Would probably never find something like that on the high street :(

    1. Thanks Jade! It's one of those outfits that doesn't photograph as well as it could, so a video was a good plan. Hahah I know what you mean, can't wait to get back and stock up on more bits! Their coats are the perfect fit for me.
