Day Two on the cobbles and I succumbed to the flats. In hindsight, I probably should have worn heels or something to aid height anyway, because a) there's no place like LFW to make you feel like a Borrower, and b) standing invites mean having a (fashionable) hop, skip and jump during shows. Well, not really, but you get the idea.

This season has seen a 180° twist in the peacocking and eclectic-dressing menagerie that fashion weeks have become so known for. Marrying up with the BFC's new blogger strategy that I finally see as a good idea, LFW has been somewhat more chilled out, back to its industry strong ways and, moreover, much more organised and streamlined. Almost gone are the days where non-ticketers lurk for a place, and instead are two queued areas, spacious media lounges and manageable cobbles (space wise, not balance wise!).

---

I opted for a pair-it-yourself black textured trouser suit for Saturday. The corduroy trousers were a sale find absolutely ages ago, I think I even had them in my Uni days! They're still a weekly go-to for me and I just had to crack them out in anticipation of another long day. My new jacket also made a sneaky appearance - so comfy and I adore the diamond quilting. Underneath I paired it with a maroon camisole, despite originally wanting to go for the softest shell pink. Maroon just felt right, ya know? Also, I'm literally in LOVE with my shoes - the chunky sole is so unlike me, but it pulls together my ridiculously girly style so well.

I'll never understand the street style phenomena, and if anything, this season highlighted how quickly the fashion industry moves. I felt that people were way less try hard this season, meaning that the Fash Pack quickly returned back to its' stronger London style origins. British style has always been infamously eclectic and practical, its eclecticity stemming from practicality itself. Beautiful trench coats, a winning display of boots, unique prints and more stepped through the Somerset House archways, a much more clearer representation of the dynamic, hugely influential industry that is fashion. Alright, it's a bit superficial, but it makes up like a third of our economy, I've heard, right?

Wordy words aside, thanks for an inspiring time LFW, so much food for thought, less time for food, and you've restored my faith in my career path and decisions. Phew. x

  3. Beautiful, maroon and black never fails! Well said/written as usual; not than I have much of a fashion head on these shoulders anyway but I've NEVER understood peacocking and how certain outfits are supposedly street style worthy. A sleek outfit like yours is so much better and more importantly, wearable! I personally see street style as a source of inspiration but as if I'm going to copy someone wearing like a pillowcase turned inside out as a jacket or something.

    1. Thanks Jade! I'm planning an even wordier and more concise piece on LFW to go up next week, just trying to collate my thoughts on it all. I love looking at 'street style' photos but forever question the purpose, value and credibility of the whole scheme. Currently I think the situation has grown so much that there's nowhere to rise but to the very extremes! x

    1. Thanks Sarah! Oh god, well, they're like all New Look flats, comfy but a nightmare to break in. My feet are super torn up but they'll be fine in a couple of wears. Orla Kiely have collaborated with Clarks btw, for their SS14 collection! xx
