Updating my AW13 wardrobe with new frames...

Since the burgeoning days of beginning this blog, one thing has remained a constant throughout the flutters of outfit posts, sporadic beauty bulletin and documenting 'that' University journey - my eyewear.

Granted, they're pretty much a necessity in my everyday life. Heck, I couldn't even see my Macbook screen to scribe this post without 'em! Glasses have been a love/hate establishment in my world for the past eight years. Yeah, I had them forced upon me during my awkward teen years and spent most of my school days apologising for having them. "Sorry, I read a lot in the dark," "I just need them for class…" - you can imagine conversations when I wasn't the most popular kid around.

Fast forward a few years though and not only have I begun to embrace my bespectacled ways (see this post I penned a while ago), I've knocked up a few go-to pairs. Say what?!

My current everyday frames are the Osiris for Specsavers B58's. With an overwhelmingly large frame, they certainly weren't my go-to when I met with Tom for a morning perusing the newest 2013 drop of Osiris for Specsavers. I got to consult with an in-store stylist and had the full range at my disposal to choose from too! After a lengthy try-on session - made all the more difficult by the fact I could hardly see myself - I settled for these and chatted to the Specsavers store team about their coating and thinning services. My prescription is that bad that I have to get 'em thinned out!

The B58's have, honestly, drastically improved my confidence and helped to refresh my style. Previously, I'd been wearing my CHANEL frames that I've had since I turned 19. Yeah, a while ago. Whilst they are obviously still wearable, they've taken somewhat of a back seat. The B58's are just bringing that geek chic touch to my outfits and I think they suit my face so much more. What are we thinking, Daisyb girls?

I was also lucky enough to try these pink Osiris B31's as part of the Osiris 'Dare to be Different' campaign. Come on, you can't get more different that hawt pink frames, aged 22, right? You can read my full post about learning to style them right here.

The Osiris for Specsavers collection is available now, and is included in their current two for one offer where two complete pairs are available for £125.

Now, where did I put my glasses...? ;)
Disclaimer: The Osiris B58 frames and lenses were both kindly gifted to me on behalf of Specsavers. I paid for a lens' coating and thinning service to my preference. The Osiris B31 frames were gifted to me on behalf of Glam Media for a brand campaign. My CHANEL frames were paid for by me. All opinions are my own - of course! (:

  1. They look good on you! I think you suit glasses. Technically I need glasses as well and I like my pair but I never wear them, they make my head hurt and I manage to get by without them haha.

    1. Thank you Jane! I've finally got used to it after briefly entertaining the idea of contacts. Not wearing glasses actually makes my head hurt now which is not good at all hahah! x

    1. That's exactly how I felt actually! It'd been three years so I was itching to try a new frame shape and switch things up a little. I always went for the same shape before. (:

  4. I am in the same boat as you! My eyesight is TERRIBLE. I have to thin out my lens as well. Out of curiosity how bad are your eyes???
Also, I am loving the new frames!! I 100% prefer wayfarer style frames... it's definitely my to go to choice. But I went on the Specsavers website and the OSIRIS B38's are white O_O is there like a colour choice?

  6. Glad you like your glasses update. I have a pair really similar to those, but I feel like it's the trend now where every Asian has a big rectangular pair like that. Just sayin'.

    Sincerely,

P.S. Last days to enter my giveaway for a $1900 aquamarine necklace!

  7. I'm also mega blind, -5.50 in both eyes. (ah, helpppp).

I think you suit all kinds of frames and I really like your new ones! I'm actually glad that bigger frames are "in fashion" because I never suited the narrow, graphic-designer-types. My eye brows are too high and my eyes are too far apart so wearing glasses hides those flaws. I have learnt to feel more comfortable in them and I even wear them on nights out now - although drunk people come up to me, thinking they are a fashion accessory, and ask to try them on! (and they're not very polite about it either!!) :-(

    1. Ah I'm -5.25 in my left, -5.75 in my right! Gives me the worst headache when I'm not wearing glasses because of the sight difference!

D'aw Sarah, thanks girl! I can't decide whether I prefer these or my CHANEl frames. My only qualm is that these 'require' makeup because they're such a large frame and such a statement. I've always worn glasses on nights out (: I've never tried contacts because I'm such a wimp! Aw man, I know the feeling, I'm finally getting to terms with it all now though. xx

  8. These look amazing on you, they really suit your face. Its like they were made for you!
I have to have my specs thinned out too, they still come back quite thick I can't imagine what they'd be like if I didn't have them thinned! x

    1. Wow thanks Leanne! <3 Mine are pretty thick at the moment (I went for the second of three thinning options!) - my optician said that there weren't any frames that could theoretically accommodate how thick mine would be, whoops! I just like to read ;) xx
