Blogging is such an odd concept when you take a step back really, isn't it? My little sister/photographer of this blog was telling me a story about her friends talking about blogging (stay with me here) and in all honesty, this underground community of selca/selfie snapping and documenting outfits paired with mini pictoral insights into our lives is quite odd. It's like a selective window into another's life, and don't try and fob me off with the words that you don't wander past homes and buildings, and wonder how their life is panning out for them. I do it daily.

I think in a sense we're all lucky to be growing up with this borderline obsessive craze for digital in full swing. We can escape the mundane and drop in to see a fellow blogger at the click of a few buttons. You can learn tiny things about life in a completely different town, city or country, and pick up tidbits about other walks of life, career paths and enrich yourself with other people's thoughts, opening up your own mind to new ideas.

Currently? Feeling very optimistic about things and grateful to have fallen into such an inspiring, fast-moving and pleasantly competitive community. Oh, and I guess a little about what I'm wearing then...

---

Put this little ensemble together last Friday and I quite liked it! Suede skirts in the summer however - avoid that particular party where possible. Dressing for work in this beautiful weather has been pretty interesting to say the least. I've ventured away from my all black outfits and you can't even see a hint of the hue (except my bag...) in today's look. I added my Lashes of London animal print shirt to the mix to keep things office-worthy, and teamed it all with my ASOS boots - swiftly switching to a cool sandal because I'm not cool enough to handle the heat. Get outta the kitchen

  4. A lot of people characterise blogging as a self-absorbed thing to do but I agree with your conceptualisation more! One of the things I love most about it is seeing and comparing how other people are doing things in their lives.

You look lovely, hope the heat's not too bad!

    1. I don't see it as self-absorbed at all, it's such a great, relatively innovative way to document everyday life when things are evolving and changing so much. It's so nice to be able to gain an insight into what other people are doing when sometimes you're slightly unsure. (:

Thanks Jane, and thanks for your lovely comment. x

  6. Looking fierce in animal print (Tyra would approve!)
I always find myself looking at people standing at bus stops and wondering where they work and if they are married/ have children, all that sort of nosey stuff! It's amazing really, as everyone has a story. I enjoyed this post - very insightful :)

    1. Thanks Louise! Mm definitely, I've learnt so much and grown so much since taking up blogging - it's nice to see things from a different perspective, I never realised how narrow minded I could be at times, before. x

    1. Oh gosh YES, definitely. Commutes are the best time for making up stories, I'm currently particularly enjoying popping stories to businessmen with no wedding ring and that play Candy Crush on the train home - fun! x

  10. THOSE Asos boots.. Why are you still tormenting me with them?! ;) Ha!
You look a bit delicious here, actually, a lot delicious! I love the shirt!

And also, when you think of blogging like that, yes it is pretty strange. And if anybody ever stole our laptops and computers, I'm sure they'd be a little concerned at the amount of 'selfie' photos that we have.. xxxx

  11. Funnily enough, I feel the same way about blogging! I love how it's like a little window into someone else's world, even though I can understand why some people might think that's creepy. After all, it is a bit weird to feel like you're getting to know someone through their blog, when in reality the blogger-reader relationship usually doesn't go the other way.

Your outfit is lovely, by the way! It's hardly bare-leg weather in Australia right now, but now I really miss it. Hope you're enjoying the sunshine though :)

    1. I adore that about blogging though, reading little idyllic snippets about other people's lives. It's like an odd balance between fact and fiction, where you've never even met the people behind the blog so really, anything could be real or faux.

Aw thank you so much Mani, enjoy your winter while it lasts though! I adore the winter and can't wait to layer up! x

  14. Found it hard to actually talk about the weirdo world of blogging until I met the a lady I work really closely with on my placement (she's a Marcomms manager & obsessed with social media) talking with her about it has made it easier to actually express to my none-blogging friends/family about why I love blogging. Yeah it's a bit weird but I think that's the beauty of it :P

Loving this combo, looks great for the Summer - despite what you say about suede! - would look great once Autumn comes around too :) xoxo

    1. I kept it a secret from everybody but my best pal at Uni for the best part of a year. I've always absolutely loved it though, and my obsession grew throughout Uni as the journalism/media industry changed. Thanks for your comment Ria! x

  16. Blogging is really weird, even I'm trying to get to grips with it! I've given up on trying to explain to people. They either get it or they don't! (ha, i'm really crap at explaining things... i'm probably saying it all wrong!) x
