On yesterday's checklist...
- girlish prints
- questionable textures
- Granny's birthday dinner
- imminent Facebook trauma
Hello little loves! Fancy seeing you here!? Yesterday was a cold, long day of town and city hopping, coupled with celebrating my Granny's birthday (it's tomorrow!) and balancing real life with everything else. For the fanciful occasion, I chose this ensemble from the depths of my wardrobe but er, didn't end up wearing up it on account of -7
°C weather. One of these weeks, I'll manage to stray away from layering up like I'm dressing for the North Pole, but erm, what is up with the British weather at the moment? Of course I shot these photos before the snow arrived. There's nothing prettier and more peaceful than watching the snow fall from the comfort of your own home with candles and blankets aplenty. It's been a little shock to the system with my commute to and from London in tow, along with broken heating in the office, and I've spent much of this week working from home, bundled in a duvet with a fever for company.
Hinting at the ever-reigning blazer-under-coat debate, yesterday I opted for one of my favourite
Ever Ours dresses paired with the newest addition to my jacket collection. Meet my pretty blazer from River Island! I picked this up in the RI sale after dithering for
a week, and fell in love with the cropped sleeves, loose fit and slightly 80's feel to it. Perfect for making my polka dot and pleats dress choice 'work', just about, in the cold snap, along with boots (swapping these flats up for heeled boots in the evenin') and my current everyday bag.
Right, I'm going to head off, finish my lunch-at-my-desk and indulge in a Friday afternoon Starbucks! What are you up to this evening? x
I love the blazer and its houndstooth print, I've been searching for a longline blazer like that! We've been having whack weather too, it was 45C today - hottest Sydney day on record!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jane, I absolutely adore my blazer, I keep trying to find excuses to wear it more often. I'm so jealous of your weather! We're currently at -3°C and it's being described as mild, because of how much colder it's recently been! x
DeleteI absolutely love the blazer, it's a great fit. I'm a jacket hoarder, I love them too much, but thankfully this British weather is allowing me to wear them all! The dress is beautiful too.

Aw thank you so much Amy! I'm such a jackets kinda girl, although most of mine can't be layered as easily as this one. x
DeleteLove the blazer with the dress, you look lovely! X
ReplyDeleteThanks Rachel! x
DeleteI love the mix of prints! This evening I will be making a snowman as I am stuck in the office all day! Jealous of those being sent home early!

N'wah thank you Leanne! Ah no! I've hardly been at work due to being ill, the heating being broken and because of the snow this week! ;) x

ReplyDeleteI'm sick of being bundled up under coats and layers, I wish it was spring already! x
I have such an affinity for Ever Ours dresses, so cutesy and pretty! Aw I adore layering up for the winter, I'm definitely a winter baby. (:
DeleteWe must be too similar Michelle! I had this blazer on my Christmas list (it was between this and the coatigan, and my brother picked the coatigan purely for its name!) and then I spotted the blazer in the sale but out of my size. BOO.
ReplyDeletebut look how amazing you look in it (now I must purchase it if it's still available come pay day!)
And your ever ours dress is gorgeous! xx
The Littles.
I think we must be secret twins Katy! ;) I genuinely wanted a coatigan from RI too but there weren't any left in my local store, and settled for this blazer - three sizes too big - instead! Love love <3
Deleteahh you look so chic! that skirt is adorable :) xo

Thank you Grace! I would absolutely recommend it if you can get your hands on one ;) x
DeleteLove the dress! I'm missing wearing daintier things these days, the last few days I've just worn blouses and jumpers in order to layer up! So cold and so much snow!
ReplyDeleteThank you Winnie! I've been opting for my favourite little dresses and adding cardigans, jackets AND coats on top for warmth. Nothing beats winter layering in my opinion, I'm such a winter baby! x
DeleteLove your dress so much it's beautiful and looks like such a lovely material :)
ReplyDeleteLove Holly x

ReplyDeleteMiss you Michelle, we need a wags date, or better yet a sleep over! You should totes come stay with me one weekend when you're free :) x
It is bloody perfect Kim! Ahh I'm certain I miss you more :( we should definitely make this sleepover happen! I'll find time in the diary and come to see you! x
DeleteI love the dress, it looks fab underneath your blazer. This snow is making it impossible to wear what I actually want, I'm too busy trying to cram as many of my clothes on at once for warmth instead!
ReplyDeleteKaz x
Aw thank you Kaz! I'm busy doing the same, don't worry! Pretty sure I managed three tops, two pairs of tights and jeans for today's snowy escapades ;) x
DeleteYou know how much I love this dress!
ReplyDeletex
