daisybutter - UK Style and Fashion Blog: christmas gift guide, shopping tips, the shopping edit, present ideas for her

The Shopping Edit: Christmas 2012 Gift Guide. Daisybutter.com.
Am I late to the party... or just in time? With just over two weeks until the best day of the year, I thought I'd throw a little gift guide together for those last minute buys. If you hadn't already noticed, I'm terrible at a) budgeting, and b) buying for men, so this is a rather biased guide towards best friends, sisters, Secret Santas and yourself. (Because everyone deserves a post-Christmas shop treat, like my ViVi and make-up buys.) Everything is linked throughout the post, bee tee dubz.

Commes des Garcons is easily one of my favourite designers. Simple and practical, I love this polka dot leather wallet that would be a perfect treat for lucky mothers and best friends. This year, I've treated my Mama to a Longchamp Veau Foulonné and two Origins Baubles! Along the same luxury lines is the Karl Lagerfeld for Shu Uemura lipstick - utter perfection with a slightly glossy finish.

For stocking filler-esque gifts, you can't go wrong with festive themed chocolate. I often plump for Hotel Chocolat to bump up gifts to my best friends. Pop some Fairisle socks in (these are from Tesco!) for a cosy/silly/practical extra that people turn their noses up at, but once the Christmas cheer has worn off, I guarantee you'll be in their good books as they cosy up by the fire.

I am a huge fan of Erin's little shop, Sawyer and Scout, for fandom themed jewellery. If you're struggling to buy a special gift for someone who adores Harry Potter/The Hunger Games/Doctor Who, Erin has a plethora of beautiful, quaint, handmade jewellery to choose from. Ever Ours hams up the kitsch with this mushroom hot air balloon necklace too!

Finally, a little Daisybutter tip: DIY hot choc hampers! These are my favourite gifts to send to friends, family friends and boyfriends' parents/sisters. I opt for a medium tub of drinking chocolate, a pretty mug, Lindt chocolate, a little wicker basket (try TK Maxx and Dunelm Mill, or a pound shop) and, this year, a cable knit mug warmer. Cheap and cheerful.
