As a newbie, fresh faced graduate(!!) (well, sort of, I throw my mortarboard in November...), I can barely believe that mid-September has caught up on us and some of my friends and readers are packing up for another year at University. Back-to-school season is well and truly upon us, so I thought I'd share a few back-to-college/University outfits today, for those of you who are without uniform!

For me, comfort was key when it came to attending Uni, whether for a five-minute tutorial (frustrating) or for a seven-hour day (exhausting). Even as a fashion student of sorts, I can wholeheartedly assure you that no-one really shows up in heels and the like, and hoodies were sported just as much as the latest Topshop fad. I find that at school, college and Uni, you tend to adopt a particular style reserved only for education - mine leaned towards floaty little skirts and dresses with oversize knits and block black boots or flats.

Look One is the ultimate first-day/Monday outfit. Showcase your personality with a printed top of choice, a pair of the infamous trouser-legging myriad, a cosy cardigan and statement flats. I know, I know, the world and their pug want a pair of velvet Charlotte Olympia kitty flats (even my babe, Taylor Swift, got in on the action!) but these Missguided ones also fit the bill perfectly at a fraction of the price! Add a tote bag (available at Freshers Fairs or blogger events alike) for those not-so-important campus maps and Freshers flyers, and some overpriced but too pretty to pass up stationery, and you're set to takeover in the fashion-slash-nerd stakes.

For days that are a little longer, perhaps involving multiple coffee trips in between awkwardly timed lectures, and shopping dates afterwards, Look Two is a simple yet 'pretty' look. I often liked to sport a whimsical dress at Uni: if it's what you're spending most of your day doing, when not curled up in bed with toast, coffee and Gossip Girl, you may as well as make a little effort, right? Pop a tunic dress on for effortless chic, and add a huge silk scarf and ankle boots for a cosy yet casual outfit.

And lastly, it happens to the best of us: mid-week hangover day. Whoever invented Wednesdays and Thursdays as 'student night' needs a firm speaking to. Look Three is styled to ease you into a day of seminars and lectures and pretending that you care about the world/life/not toast/Art History, etc. when what you really need is to complain on Twitter, eat last night's pizza and drink Lucozade on tap. I'm seriously in love with these Zoe Karssen tees at the moment, as well as both the Leigh jeans from Topshop, and printed trousers from Zara. The relaxed fit of these pieces makes for an ideal off-duty chic look, literally made to wear with a pineapple topknot and diva-esque sunglasses. Swipe some Topshop cream blush, cat-eye eyeliner and bright lipstick on to pretend that, actually, you're still alive.

  3. That monki top is amazing, I think it's maybe the top version of the dress LLYMLRS bought. Have you ever ordered from their website, the delivery is so strange - some lady rocked up in her car with a load of kids in the back and handed me the package, slightly unexpected! Cx

    1. Mm me too, nothing quite feels the same as starting afresh in September with cold classrooms, First Day nerves and new exercise books, I'm such a nerd! Hope you're well Lily! x

  13. I had days when I wore really casual outfits, mainly a stripped tee and jeans (my favourite for a long day!) and some days where I fancied a nice skirt and blouse! I'll miss uni, purely for somewhere to hang out and meet friends. I've caught a case of the graduate blues though sadly, work is so difficult when you live in such a small place :/

    1. Nothing beats a Breton stripe and jeans though (: I must admit that third year brought me to embrace the leggings and massive cosy knit look on most days, especially with that crazy cold bout we had for months! Aw I hope you manage to beat the grad blues soon, Katie! ^____^
