Week One of my internship with InStyle is going swimmingly, but the rush hour commute means that I'm super tired all the time, and taking photos or switching my laptop on is the least of my worries! This week has seen my blog enjoy a week off, albeit with an array of scheduled posts and I did get round to replying to blog comments last night while passed out on the sofa. I think next week, I'll tone things down and post when I can get round to it!
So, for those of you wanting to hear more about life as an intern... well, I'm currently drowning in doing press sample call-ins. This is where you phone PR companies on behalf of editors and request samples that fit a story brief, and these are called in to the fashion cupboard, ready to sift through and sort for featuring. We also have the 'fun' job of returns: this is the other side of call-ins, returning samples to PR companies. There are also lots of other odds and ends to do, such as dealing with emails, sending issues of the mag out to press, filing lookbooks and tracking items, as well as assisting with trend and look boards. I've had about five placements overall, and they're all very similar with varying degrees of responsibility. If you want advice, etc. please feel free to email me, internships aren't as scary as you may think!
Any BIGBANG fans out there...? Currently lovin' Monster and the video to go alongside it! I love you, baby I'm not a monster, lalala~ I'm still spending most of my spare time refreshing their Alive World Tour website, hoping their UK dates and venues are anywhere near suitable for me. Please come to London!
Finally, the three winners of my Filofax giveaway are Jackie (pink), Natasha (blue), and Rae (green). I'll be emailing you later this afternoon, so please check your email Inboxes if your name is in this list! ♥

Your internship sounds incredible, you must be learning loads! :) Really pleased it's all going well :) I love Accessorize so much, I haven't actually tried their make-up range yet but I've heard rave reviews on it. I'm working all over the Jubilee so can't really participate in the celebrations, but I'm going to do some jubilee inspired nail art :) Have a great week :D

Thanks Holly! I'm definitely learning more in the sense of being at a monthly mag (my other placements have all been weeklies or other areas in fashion!) and it's going well so far! I've been playing with their new collection all weekend, really enjoy it so expect a review/overview of sorts next week (:
DeleteYour internship sounds really fast paced and oriented. I'm not sure I'd be able to do that sort of organization all day! It sounds like great experience for you and padding your resume, though.
ReplyDeleteAll that food looks a little bit like a heart attack .... which means it was probably delicious! Why are always the yummiest foods the least healthy? x
Of course it is, Alyse, just the way I like things! (: it's good experience and one of my favourite magazines, so I'm soaking it all up, ready for the next chapter! Hahah oh gosh I know, makes me look super unhealthy but I only end up photographing food that looks good :P hope you're well, girly! xx
DeleteThe internship sounds great! Love the colours in your scarf, enjoy the wedding on Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteCaroline x
Caroline's Catwalk
Thank you Caroline!
DeleteLovely photos, your phone case is so cute!! Your internship sounds amazing, have a good weekend lovely :) xoxo
ReplyDeleteThank you Kirsty (: you too sweet, hope you're enjoying the long weekend!
DeleteYou're a fan of BigBang? I love those boys! The monster MV didn't totally cut it for me though but the song didn't disappoint. I still have to listen to it wit h the lyrics though as I'm not 100% sure what it's about.
ReplyDeleteI'm exactly the same! I also need to know how much tickets are so I can prepare myself for my oncoming debt. It'll end up being me stood queuing alone for the concert with my lightstick (which I'm hoping they'll be selling there as I have none).
It's good to hear your internship is going well! I'd very much like to do something like that when the time comes :) xo
Mais oui! I've been a dedicated VIP since the early early days of 2007 or so ;) Aw I loved the MVand song, but my sister wasn't a huge fan of the MV either so I guess it's kinda like a Marmite thing. I've set aside £80 for it, not including getting there haha, feelin' about Jan/Feb if they come to the UK (:
DeleteSuch a pretty phone case! It looks super adorable!
ReplyDeleteAnd is this MapleStory my eyes are seeing? In which server are you playing? :)
A Big Bang fan here! I love Monster's MV and the song is also super nice! I can actually see a lot of DC elements in it, or is it just me? Haha.
milkyposh xx
Thank you Denny <3 YUS INDEED. You can usually find me in Kradia Channel 2, my username is 'mishie' (: ahh I adore the Monster MV, the song is so perf as a follow up to Blue! xx
DeleteOh my the internship sounds so exhausting and so rewarding as well, it must be amazing to work at InStyle. Your scarf is gorgeous, too, it sounds like a lovely way to enjoy the jubilee. Hope you're well, lovely X
ReplyDeleteIt's really rewarding, as tired as I get, it's the kind of thing I see myself doing in two or three years time so I'm soaking it all up (: thanks Hannah, I spent my Sunday watching the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Boat Pageant hahah, so nice to be British at the moment! xx
DeleteLovely photos and that scarf is beautiful!
ReplyDeletedenimdreamsandneonnightmares.blogspot.com
Aw thank you Shania! xx

DeleteI love your new phone cover and the marc jacobs daisy-esque flowers! So cute :) xx
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Katy, will be blogging about it next week!
DeleteA lovely week in photos, the perfume bottle is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThank you Molly (: I know, it's so typically Accessorize, isn't it?
DeleteI've seen a lot of jubilee related posts lately and that makes me want so bad to be in England lol. Sorry i have a slight anglomanÃa because i went to a british school here :) the history is amazing.
ReplyDeleteInStyle??? That must be so fun!!! Good luck on that :D.
Oh, and your phone cover is BEAUTIFUL! It matches your style :).
It's so nice to be British and in the UK at the moment. Other than the weather, the atmosphere has been incredible. Aw thank you Yona, am really enjoying it at InStyle so far!
DeleteYour phone case is amazing! It reminds me very much of the Daisy perfume bottle from Marc Jacobs so I can't wait for your upcoming post.
ReplyDeletep.s. how good are the new Ben and Jerry flavours?!
♥mollie from musicandmollie
Aw thanks Mollie, I think I'll be blogging about it on Tuesday or so, depending on how busy I am (: and YES, so ridiculously good! I didn't realise the Core flavours had a actual core haha! xx
DeleteAll this food looks so, so yum!!
ReplyDeleteYour internship sounds awesome, enjoy!

I'm such a food enthusiast hahah, really keep meaning to start a food blog or food diary of sorts :P thanks lovely!
DeleteGreat post, your internship sounds very eventful!
ReplyDeletehttp://thefashiondistrictnlc.blogspot.com/
Thanks Nicola! Yup, all hands on board at the moment, I'm half dreading Wednesday morning and half super excited to get everything going :P
DeleteI'm hoping for an internship or a proper job to get some job experience, but in something totally different than you so it won't be AS fun ! And darn, I definitely wouldn't want to be during any rush hour thank you ! It's a nightmare ! I have to ask one tinie tiny question, what's is the font for your follow daisybutter?
ReplyDeleteAw I'm sure it could be! I start my job the Monday after I finish this internship, all fun and games ;) it's the same as all of my other fonts, Apple Garamond. xx
DeleteI love that phone case o.o! It is so interesting to hear about the Jubilee, even in America we are excited to watch all of the media on it.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I'm always jealous of your food pictures... I envy what you eat.
Rubiiee
Thanks doll! Will be blogging about it later in the week (:
DeleteYour internship sounds so fun! I think I would love doing those things! There's a part of me that wishes I'd got into fashion journalism rather than working in a Press Office, I hope I don't regret it later in life! Hope you have a lovely time at the wedding, I'm going to be super predictable and say I'm looking forward to seeing what you wear (if we're allowed!) :) xxx
ReplyDeleteIt's absolutely made certain (again) that working at a fashion desk at a magazine is what I want to do (: I've had experience on both sides but I'm not quite bubbly enough for the PR side of things! Thanks Rosie, hope you're well lovely lady! xxxx
DeleteI've never heard of that flavor from Ben & Jerry's, but anything caramel is delicious to me!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to have an internship at a big magazine one day. InStyle is definitely a good read and inspiration guide. I'd like to know how you got the internship. Did you apply, or did InStyle contact you? good luck :)
M.
It's so good, would absolutely recommend! It was on offer in Sainsbury's when I bought mine. I just applied by sending my cover letter and CV in to them (: be sure to tailor your cover letter to the publication specifically though! xx
DeleteThat Ben & Jerry's is gorgeous! As soon as I read the name of the Accessorize perfume I instantly thought of Taylor Swist, must head out and buy that now!
ReplyDeleteYour scarf is gorgeous! Have fun at the wedding sweet!
H x
I did too! Lauren (laurenella.net) thought I was absolutely mental when I started banging on about Enchanted being one of my top favourite songs ;) it's a nice substitute until Wonderstruck is released in the UK! xx
DeleteEnchanted, Ours and Long Live are my top 3 from Speak Now!
Deleteeek, so excited to get both perfumes, although my Accessorize is absolutely rubbish at stocking anything :( xx
I adore these photos. How does the Accessorize perfume smell?
ReplyDeletewww.whatlauradid.com
Laura xo.
Thank you Laura! 'Enchanted' is a really nice musky, warm and 'sexy' scent, I'm awful at describing perfumes, but it is definitely musky and warm with a hint of something sweet in there (:
DeleteThe Accessorize goodies look amazing!
ReplyDeletex
They're surprisingly good, Sarah, so creamy and pigmented! xx
DeleteI'm reading the Great Gatsby at the moment too, want to read it before I see the film!
ReplyDeleteMe too! I bought it and started reading it about two years ago but then University reading took over, it's quite good so far, a little slow for my liking? How're you finding it? xx
DeleteI'm so jealous of your internship! Hope it's going ok.
ReplyDeleteYour internship sounds exciting but lots of fun! Your food posts have made my mouth water xx
ReplyDeleteElla @ Belle Vintage
Your phone design reminds me of the Daisy perfume, sweet! Glad your internship is going well, you seem incredible busy but being productive is always better than having nout to do! You also post some of the best looking food! ahhh! I'm starvin marvin
