Eyelash extensions are something that I've been looking into, on and off, for about three years. Back in 2009, I had my lashes permed in Hong Kong and couldn't believe how much of a difference they made. I have very typically Asian/Chinese lashes: notoriously straight and relatively short - although Asma told me mine were quite long! Proud moment! - and therefore, I've always been self-conscious of my lashes, or lack thereof.

Boudoir Lashes is the creation of Asma Docrat, and I could not recommend her services more. Asma meticulously applies each individual eyelash extension with utmost care and skill. They are applied and attached to each of your own lashes, and you can select between a choice of looks, from subtle fluttery lashes, to dramatic and full sets. I opted for something subtle and daytime appropriate, and Asma then catered for my preference while keeping in mind my glasses.

The process itself can take between half an hour for the Flutter Effect with corner lashes, to an hour and a half for the Volume Effect. You have to lie on your back with your eyes closed for the whole duration, which feels a little out-of-body but I just chatted away during the application session! It doesn't hurt, and in fact, you barely even feel Asma working away on your lashes. The lash extensions look completely seamless, and won't look like strip false lashes at all: my friends were all bemused at how my lashes suddenly grew 8mm+ overnight without looking fake!

I honestly can't sing my praises enough for Boudoir Lashes, and will definitely be returning before graduation week! I'd imagine eyelash extensions would be quite good for holidays and occasions, as you wouldn't need to worry about mascara and liner at all. They were a godsend during the warm weather as I didn't need a scrap of make-up! The aftercare is very straightforward, and I haven't had any complications other than having to stop using my beloved Shu Uemura beauty cleansing oil until they fall out, as oil-based products strip the glue down.

If you are interested in eyelash extensions, Asma at Boudoir Lashes is kindly offering Daisybutter readers 50% off their first full set of lashes. Terms and conditions apply, so check at the time of booking just to be certain, but I'd have no qualms with paying the full price for perfect lashes for the summer.

  13. thanks for this great post as well as this great and in depth review. i know exactly what you means of the pains of asian lashes. mine are very sparse and straight. i would love to do this sometime, but my biggest problem are actually my non-existent bottom lashes. i think though for top lashes, even when asians have long ones, they can get hidden under the eyelid depending on the eyeshape and if the person has a double fold or not. are they safe for your actual lashes though? i would feel really sad if i got these and then lost my only actual lashes over time.

    1. Thank you so much Rae! Mine are sparse and straight too. With my bottom lashes, I pop a tiny amount of liner on to create the illusion of longer lashes there. The lash extensions are applied onto the lash so they wouldn't be hidden at all, and so far, my real lashes are holding up fine as the extensions drop out (: Hope this helps, I love your blog by the way, just followed you! xx

  14. I've had eyelash extensions done before and they do make a dramatic difference in your eyes!

However, just want to note that the more synthetic lashes they glue onto your lashes, the more "heavy" your eyelashes feel and also gets irritated easily (maybe not best for those with sensitive eyes like myself).

  15. I think your eyelashes turned out beautiful! I love the natural curl!

  16. These eye lashes do not seem like artificial. I would say applying some Mascara would be more attractive than wearing artificial eye lashes.
