Last week, in what I like to call a fit of third year fever induced madness, I added the Nars Wicked Attraction set to my ASOS basket and clicked checkout. Now one of my favourite hobbies at the moment is to peruse my favourite e-boutiques, fill up the baskets with what I'd buy if I'd won the Lottery, take a screenshot and then swiftly exit the window in favour of spending some quality time with 10,000 words of dissertation-related fun. So where did I go wrong, one might ask? Sarah, Hannah, Sarah and Emma - the Dream Team - only went and peer pressured me into realising that a blush, bronzer, eyeshadow, primer and lipgloss for £35 was actually a good deal.
Nars Wicked Attraction is a perfect little set for those wanting to try the brand out. It contains the much talked about Orgasm blush and Laguna bronzer, as well as other products that I hadn't initially been excited about, but now can't wait to try properly. I can see a Nars obsession growing already, as the matte black packaging has a really expensive, luxurious quality to it: in a materialistic, narcissist manner, it is a brand you want to pop in your make-up bag and be seen with.
- the highlights, in my words:
'Orgasm' blush - the 'real' version of my old favourite Sleek Rose Gold blush. It is a bright coral pink with fine gold shimmer, and looks beautifully summery worn with lashings of mascara, tousled hair and nude or bright lips.
'Laguna' bronzer - a gorgeous matte, muddy brown bronzer. I've been after my perfect bronzer and/or contour product for months now, and this has stolen my heart already while I slowly attempt to tan for the summer months. I'm still in the stages of applying little by little with a light hand because I'm terrified of wasting any of this!
'Fathom' eyeshadow - this was the product that I really wasn't sure about, but it turns out that I didn't need to worry at all. I'm a huge fan of Urban Decay's eyeshadows, especially Sidecar, which is full of glitter particles, and this is similar except the glitter is much more wearable. A light baby pink with glitter pieces, this is perfect for both daytime and evening looks with lots of mascara and winged liner. I wore this yesterday with Urban Decay's 'Smog' from the Naked Palette which is perfect daytime eye look!
The extra, mini primer and lipgloss are also great quality. I'm typically not a lipgloss lover, but this will live nicely in my handbag for last-minute touch-ups! Overall, I'm glad the Dream Team pushed me into buying this. It makes for a great Nars starter kit, if you will, with all of the favourites in one little package. While £35 looks seriously pricey for make-up, you are getting your money's worth, with a full size blush-bronzer duo and full size eyeshadow. Next on my list is Nars' Penny Lane cream blush. Do you have any recommendations for me?
Disclaimer: I wasn't paid to write this review. I bought this Nars set with a combination of a gifted ASOS voucher and my own money.
