One of the recurring Spring Summer trends is the Aztec/tribal trend, and while it is one that I've previously worn as everyday style, I can very safely say that I'd never thought of trying tribal jeans. I really like the idea of subtly printed jeans, having only just reintroduced jeans to my wardrobe, so what better way to highlight the trend that for me to step things up a notch and physically show you some Ways to Wear tribal jeans?

For reference, the jeans pictured in each Look below are these Missguided tribal jeans.

Black 'Aggie' boots, ASOS;
Blazer, bought in a boutique in Japan;

Nails, Eyeko Pastel Polish.)

My first Look is something quite sophisticated, tailored and evening appropriate, as I seem to structure most of my Ways to Wear posts! I bought this soft jersey blazer in Osaka, Japan when I was holiday there a few years ago and don't get enough wear out of it at all. It really helps to soften up the black against bleached denim in the Look, and tied in the colour palette perfectly. Subtle scallop edging is girly without looking too try-hard, and I scrunched my hair up with some Sebastian Crude Clay (really rationed now that I can't buy any more!) and pinned it up so I wouldn't look too prim.

Look Two is a casual, day-to-day Look. I'd probably wear this on a coffee and shopping date, to Uni or to run errands because it's perfectly stripped down and simple without being too plain. I rolled up the hem of the jeans to embrace the 20°C heat that we're enjoying in the UK at the moment - which probably isn't even warm to some international readers! - and wore a simple, silk-esque material printed vest, with a longline necklace. Finished the look off with my mint green, low-wedge peeptoe shoes for the ultimate Summer Look.

What do you think of tribal jeans? Did I manage to pull off the look? Hope you enjoyed this little twist on my Ways to Wear feature, and as ever, if you have any particular requests, swing them my way either over Twitter or through Formspring! I'm already working on another mini spin-off for this feature, so stay tuned!

  2. Is it bad I find it really weird seeing you in jeans? lol they look fab on you though! I haven't seen many tribal jeans in the shops mainly printed leggings/trousers, maybe I need to look harder? I really like the subtlety of the print on these ones xoxo

    1. Haha I find it weird to see myself in jeans too :P the thing is, I reach for my jeans more than my skirts and shorts now, think my style is evolving to something a little more corporate and er, age appropriate, dare I say it! I've seen plenty in Topshop and Miss Selfridge, but prefer the way these are only patterned on the sides (: would definitely recommend, so comfy! xx

  3. Ooo I'm liking the physical ways to wear! I think the first look is my fave, but I may have been swayed by the scallop edged vest! And you know I was all 'it's not actually that warm here' in my last comment, well today it was... warm with no breeze and I actually caught the sun :O Think Soton just caught up with the rest of the country! x
