Well well well! Long time no see, eh, Ways to Wear series? Can you believe that it's been just over a year since my first attempt at Frugal February and when I started writing this feature? Crazy. It probably comes as no surprise that I'm supposed to be tapping away at my dissertation but I thought I'd take a break from that and resurrect this series while I could - four weeks without a new installment is inexcusable. This week's featured item is navy leggings or jeans, as suggested by Cherry. Often overlooked, they are such a great staple to have in your wardrobe and are easily styled up or down with all sorts of items.

For reference, the navy jeans pictured in each Look below are these Leigh Supersoft jeans from Topshop.

(Mizumi heart jumper, New Look;
Courtney pointed collar, Little Me;
Fluoro trim bag, Topshop;
Macau suede shoes, Topshop.)

Look One features the sweetest heart print jumper, in true 'me' style. I'm such a sucker for a cutesy, pseudo-tacky print! Buy/wear this several sizes larger and take to it with fabric scissors to cut the cuffs and waist-hugging band off for a slouchy, more flattering fit, you can easily hem the trimmed edges by hand or with an iron-on hem and this way, the jumper will look much more sleek, unique and expensive! Toughen the Look up with a Little Me collar and then accessorise with some peachy coral accents which compliment navy blue tones perfectly.

(Tine sheer heart collar blouse, Missguided;
Navy V-neck cardigan, River Island;
Gold-tone heart hairband, River Island;
Cat ear ring, Ever Ours;
Jelly shoes, Zara.)

I'm absolutely in LOVE with this heart trim sheer shirt from Missguided - can you spot a pattern here? You'd need a nude coloured camisole underneath this, but wrap a navy and cream cardigan on top and any thoughts of Granny-esque undergarments can be forgotten about! Accessorise with a gold tone hairband worn Lauren Conrad style, yes I still adore her, and jelly sandal flats for a simplistic, everyday Look. I'd also pop a 'quirky' ring on to add something extra and this cat ear ring from Ever Ours completely fits the bill!

(Leopard applique collared shirt, Zara;
Skull print silk scarf, Topshop;
Disney Couture ring, ASOS;
Lenny wedge sandals, Topshop.)

For something a little more sophisticated while maintaining personality, Look Three is my favourite of this week's picks. Zara have currently got this beautiful leopard applique blouse in, which should be worn slightly larger to reach the top-middle of your thighs. Add this printed silk scarf on top for a subtle print clash, and complete the Look with an (unpictured) olive green, longline blazer. Still lusting after these wedges from Topshop too, but more likely to buy a cheaper alternative...

Which is your favourite Look? How would you style navy leggings and jeans?

  3. All of these are gorgeous but everything about that first look is perfection, I love it so much especially the jumper and collar combo! I think I read somewhere that you study Writing Fashion and Culture at Solent, I got an offer for that course but decided to go somewhere else! Kind of wish I'd gone for it though as it seems like such an amazing course!

  23. Yes! I love these features, you give me sooo many outfit ideas but also make me want to spend a fortune... so actually it's kind of a love hate relationship. My hearts love, my bank account hates. :P

  27. Haha ;) I've already mentally spent the last of my loan on that leopard shirt, the peach suede shoes and Zara shoes. Suffering for my 'art' or what?! :P xx

  28. Aw thank you! Sheer shirts are so hard to hunt for, I always find sizing up a size or two is much more flattering (:

  30. Thank- you for the comment, ooh I'm jealous, its funny what people perceive to be ugly/cute because to me those shoes are plain adorable! But I can't what you mean, don't think I am offended! It's just interesting people's definition - if you get me? Adore this post, it's sort of made me want some jeans, and I have owned a pair since I was about nine maybe?! I hate how they fit my chunky monkey thighs! But hey ho. Ooh plus, last night I was reading my Elle magazine and there was an interview with the Chung, and it made me think of you and Vicky from Heartshaker!

    Lots of Love,

  31. I love look one, it's probably the most me of the lot.

    I love teaming nude pink with navy for a spring feel, and I think navy jeans and leggings also lend themselves to grey tones really well. One of my fave lazy combinations is navy jeans, a bretong or striped top and a nude coloured blazer.
