Mid-afternoon on Friday, a few of us accompanied Rebecca to view the Orla Kiely AW12 presentation. Strictly speaking, I didn't have an invitation, but I did have my press/bloggers pass and a business card to hand, so in I strolled, to a world away from the hustle and bustle of London Fashion Week, into a beautiful, old-timey, minature Parisian 1940's ballroom, complete with a cake and champagne service, and a tea dance.

Orla Kiely, if you didn't already know, is a long-time 'LFW designer'. Based in London but hailing from Ireland, Orla Kiely's designs are synonomous with the classic, eccentric British lifestyle, all peter pan collars, muted colours and, above all, equal parts practicality and whimsy. The new collection is the perfect balance of the daintiest of dolls, and the more sleek, retro girl, with colours ranging from palest cream to vibrant red, and lengths skimming the tops of the thigh to a ladylike below-the-knee.

Seeing the AW12 collection up close - the presentation system at LFW is much more intimate than a catwalk show, as you can see - has left me popping more than a few dresses, beaded collars and glitter ankle socks onto my wishlist. I absolutely adore the sleeveless tulle dress covered in little bows, and can only dream of potentially wearing one to my graduation (I'd probably freeze, as well as be left penniless!).

  10. This is why I love you Bee! I think you could y'know (: I have a fear of ankle socks because my ankles are disgusting and bashed up from years of dancing and being the most accident-prone gal alive ;)

  11. It was really refreshing, I honestly felt a million miles away from London (:

  13. Extremely beautiful collection. What a wonderful way to present it, parisian chic can never go wrong. xx

  14. You love me for my shoe size? Interesting ;) My ankles are tiny. For some reason I've been blessed with these flippers but the big man upstairs forgot to create hideous cankles to go with them. He placed some poor little girl's dainty ankles on me instead. Hell, I wouldn't complain if it didn't make it impossible to buy shoes/pull off anything!

I think we should have an accident-prone off, cause I don't think there are many people out there that are more accident-prone than myself - apart from my family members! God somehow forgot to apply a sense of gravity when he made us all ridiculously lanky. He's forgotten a lot of things.....

  15. Wow. The first is ridiculously amazing.

  16. You know what they say about big feet... ;) Let's swap ankles, and all will be good in the world! I nearly fell to my death multiple times yesterday, and nearly did a seat-drop-esque fall on the bus too, ever so graceful! He forgot to add two inches to my height too, I'm often forgotten about or literally overlooked in large groups :P

  42. Really enjoyed the Orla Kiely presentation. It was world's away from LFW, I think other designer's shouls take a leaf out of their book. Loved the champagne and cake too, it was like being transported back in time. I loved how quaint the designs were, especially the vintage-inspired handbags. Such little classics.
