Good afternoon lovely ones! Well, it's been a fair while since my last Ways to Wear post, hasn't it?! I don't mean to be such a slack blogger, I just genuinely haven't found the time to put one of these together, much less use my brain creatively outside of assignment torture. I also decided to base my
new assignment blog on my Ways to Wear feature, so I've being working away on that, it's all a bit "behind the scenes" right now, but my first post will go live on Monday 7th, so give it
a follow or favourite, and let me know what you think? Anyway, shameless self-promotion over, I now have a lovely three-day weekend to indulge in, and wanted to share some Grandad jumper inspiration with you, ready for the November chill!
Call it what you will, this jumper is the cosiest of them all, and sits prettily on the borderline of Grandad-esque and geek chic. Found in all manner of high street stores, higher end fashion brands, and the humble charity shop, the quirky, fairisle, "Christmas" knit is back in again for those on a budget, so I thought I'd focus this week's feature on it! I've found these three beautiful knits in New Look and H&M respectively, but obviously, root around your wardrobe, I know I have at least three slightly embarrassing jumpers in my possession!
Look One is a simple, everyday outfit. I'd probably wear this for a shopping trip, or a casual lunch date: still adore a sweet collar peeping out from a jumper, and the floaty, girly skirt shape of this Pussycat at New Look dress is perfect. I'd also wear a vintage or handmade brooch to add that personal finish to this outfit. Pop some ankle socks on (polka dots or cable knit are my favourite right now, not too patterned and not too plain!) and some patent loafers and you're dressed to impressed. Don't be afraid to branch out, away from a shirt/jeans/jumper Look.
I seriously wish I had a spare £150 in the ol' bank account for Look Two. The cardigan won't be to everyone's taste, but there is an image in the River Island lookbook on their website that shows it in its' full glory. I'd wear this open, with the scoop neck top tucked in to the shorts. I'm a little in love with these shorts: high-waisted, cord, a deep wine red... they tick all of the boxes for this Autumn/Winter. Team with cable knit knee highs, rolled down and worn "slouchy", and pop these beautiful-beyond-words Arizona boots on. I think these are soon to be the new Allegras.
I love Look Three, despite it being a culmination of things I haven't worn in about three years. My sister absolutely owns this Look to perfection: jeans, a model-off-duty parka, white Converse and a snood. I'll have to make a mental note to bribe her into featuring in an outfit post! I lovelove the jumper, there's something so easy and perfectly baggy about the fit. It'll look amazing with berry red jeans (which everyone has been asking for a feature about!), as well as with the parka. Leave the parka undone, and maybe even wear a size too big, so you can pop the snood on for that imperfect-perfect, snuggly Winter Look.
I hope you enjoyed this week's Ways to Wear feature. I thought it'd be perfect timing after spotting everyone's early morning "it is far too cold to live today" Tweets! Let me know if you're planning on buying anything from this week's Looks too, so I can wallow in envy, haha. Hope you all have a lovely Bonfire Night weekend! ♥
Oh Michelle you've done once again with this post! I'd have to say the 3rd photograph is my favourite combination - the burgundy jeans have stolen my heart! I bought some the other week so I'm not on the look out for a lovely jumper to compliment it. That snowflake one looks ever so cosy too.
ReplyDeleteI love all these looks but I would have to go for look one if I had to pick because I am very much a dress girl xx
ReplyDeleteLove look 2 & 3...gorgeous!
ReplyDeletefunnily enough I think the third is my favourite.. although it's not something i'd wear but it actually MAKES me want to go wear it!!
ReplyDeleteI know though, i'd choose look 1. for the dress, with the knit so cute! But maybe i should step out of my comfort zone.. I do love those burgandy jeans (and actually the top grandad knit!) I love geek chic! WINNER xx
I think these "Christmas style" patterned jumpers are ridiculously cute... they remind me of snow and log cabins! I want one!
