Bear with me while I struggle through the fashion blogging biz with no tripod, outfit photographer/handyman or appropriate natural light. After a week of poor motivation, late nights and disastrous, accidental phonecalls to people I no longer speak to (as a general rule), I accompanied my housemate and best friend on a shopping trip for a Grad Ball outfit. And of course I couldn't leave without caving and spending for myself too. Seriously in LOVE with my new H&M dress: the perfect fit-and-flare, velvet body and a tulle skirting. I stand at a petite 5"1 or so, and this is the perfect skirt length for me! At £9.99, I think it is supposed to be a top/tunic, but it works for me as a dress.

Going to be taking the plunge and redesigning my layout again soon - workload permitting! There's something that just doesn't sit properly with the design at the moment, but I have a little stack of sketches and notes for my perfect design. Fingers crossed! Hope everyone is having a lovely Friday, how could you not be, to be honest?

  5. The dress is gorgeous, love the texture of the tulle contrasted against the smooth velvet, such a great buy!
Good luck trying to scrounge the time to work on your layout, even posting regularly can be enough of a struggle!
Hope you're having a good Friday, so far! xx

  14. That dress is gorgeous! I'm 5'10 so would probably a tad short for me if it's supposed to be tunic. Darn. I really need some velvet in my life. Good luck with the layout! x

  15. Beautiful dress, really like the cut of the chest. Also I would be lost without my super cosy tights this winter! I remember only being able to buy two pairs due to them never being in stock - they were off the shelves like hot cakes!

I managed to grab a few knitted items from H&M Monday and I'm so impressed with the wide range of clothes they have in at the moment. I must have been in there for a good hour!

Your designs are always very pleasant and sophisticated. Nice pastel shades and beautiful graphics. Looking forward to the next one you've got conjured up!

  16. I've always found Barthes' Marxist ideas about the ruling class influencing everything interesting, though frustrating too. I never knew that he wrote a book about fashion, though it would make sense, I suppose. I'll look out for it.
    Thank you,
    Lauren

  18. Such a lovely dress. I also love being short and being able to pull of tops as dresses! Feeling exactly the same about my blog at the moment as well, although I have no motivation whatsoever to do anything about it x

  19. Dress is gorgeous - I'm also a shorty so might have a look and see if I can find it in H&M x

  20. Ooh I have The Fashion System! I found it very interesting if a little hard to plough through. I don't know if it ever got retranslated from the original French but the copy I had had some terrifyingly bad english sentences in it. It was a good read regardless :)

That dress is gorgeous! I'm even further towards the ground at a painful 5'1 so I'm always on the lookout for skirts that are a good length on me xxx

  24. I hadn't seen it online actually! Not that I'd looked haha ;) SO glad I bought it, it is so flattering for once, I usually struggle with dresses for my height! xx

  26. Aw thank you! Never been happier with a purchase before :D Mm, I'm thinking of scheduling some posts here and there, just so my posts are a little more consistent haha, it's difficult to balance everything atm! Have a lovely weekend (: xx

  32. Thanks Lou (: It's so hard isn't it? I always find if the proportions on the waist work, then everything else is a little off, and vice versa, I'm SO pleased I managed to find this though! xx

    ReplyDelete
  33. Aw that's a shame ): This is the perfect short-but-still-decent length on me, and I'm teeny tiny haha. Thank you lovely! xx

  34. Aw thank you so much sweet! There were plenty in the Southampton store today, but then again, they had JUST restocked everything (: I've seen some lovely stuff in there too actually, I just feel so guilty buying things around Christmas time. xx

  35. I've always been interested in Barthes' ideas too, but I find his writing really dense and difficult to absorb! He has a few about fashion and culture actually (: I've been studying them for three years! xx

    ReplyDelete
  36. Thank you (: Awh unfortunately I'm not going to it haha, I graduate next year, but my best friend is going this year with a friend who graduated this week! You too sweet, hope you have a lovely weekend! xx

Aaah loving the new dress. I'm not particularly tall at 5'5, but neither am I particularly short, my big problem with length seems to be too much chest- seriously makes getting tops to sit a bit longer an absolutel NIGHTMARE. Sorry, think that might have been a bit too much info...

Love the necklace, where did you get it? So delicate but cute.

    Don't work too hard querida.

  48. Oh, the dress is stunning - what an absolute bargain - good old H&M! Beautiful necklace too.
I know what you mean, massive workloads + no natural light = lack of blogging!
Aw, I love your blog design but I know how you feel. I never seem to be happy with mine but it needs a good day dedicated to redesigning it which is hard to spare! x
