Morning happy campers! Hasn't this week dragged on for absolutely ages? I'm so glad the weekend is here. I went to see the Inbetweeners Movie yesterday at the cinema; it was so good and typically funny, with a few cringey moments. I'd totally recommend seeing it if you want some nonsensical laughs at the expense of Will and co.! I actually wrote this post last night (being poor doesn't amount to many Fridays out) but figured it'd just get lost in the depths of the Internet.

This week's featured garment is the midi skirt. It's set to me a huge garment for the Autumn Winter '11 season, and although it wouldn't spring to mind as the most wearable piece, I can certainly see it in so many different looks. This one is from my beloved Topshop, but you could always DIY one from a leftover maxi from the Summer, and I'm certain there will be more affordable options on the High Street or in charity shops.

Look One is an easy, sophisticated look: I saw this lovely daisy embellished top at Topshop and thought the little detailing would contrast nicely against some pleats. The top is a semi-cropped shell top, which will look super sweet with the midi skirt, showing just enough skin for some edge, but keeping that ladylike feel to the look. I'm probably going to invest in some more Topshop knitwear this coming season, it's relatively affordable for the quality given and always perfectly on-trend and wearable. This cocoon cardigan will balance out the skin-flash as well as providing some required warmth. Really into the heeled ankle boots that are everywhere right now, I think this stone pair will look lovely with this Look, and should lift the colour up.

No idea how I ended up going down the pirate route for Look Two. Not remotely something I'd consciously consider wearing, but I had a snoop on the Uniqlo website earlier for their Harry Potter range, and found these instead, from their Disney collection. I'd imagine this top knotted to the side to cinch in the waist, and cute little chain detail loafers. Absolutely adore the little bamboo handle bag, and I really wish I could justify making a sneaky bag purchase, if only for this little beauty!

I really wanted to create an easy to wear look with my final Look. I'd recommend wearing the knit untucked, for ultimate slubby, cosy chic, or tuck the front "panel" in to this petrol coloured belt. Loose knits are always best accessorised with a long pendant and a stack of bangles to play up a casual look, and finished off with these beyond pretty zip up boots from River Island. Perfect "off-duty model" style. For a cute alternative to this plain knit, I'm still in love with the ampersand jumper that Emma ended up buying!

Just wanted to take a second to thank you all for the amazing feedback following last week's W2W installment. It's so nice to log in and see comments from people, genuinely interested in what I have to say, but even more so that some of you have taken to saving my Looks for future reference! I've been really inspired by some of the editorials and collections that I've seen for the coming season, and can't wait to see where it takes my wardrobe and I, haha. I'll be seeing you all tomorrow for a photo diary post and a little catch up!

  1. Oh my goodness, Michelle I want it all! It's so gorgeous all of them. I just love that midi skirt too, and you've solved my problem on how to wear them! I had no idea because the length looks awkward on me but somehow flattering.

  6. I've never really understood midi skirts because they look like a slightly unflattering shape, but the one you've featured has changed my mind slightly, I love the material! Look 1 is my favourite which I'm surprised by as it isn't the type of outfit I would normally wear. Really enjoying your blog - I read your interview/diary thing about your internship at more! magazine and found it very interesting. I'm planning on applying for some magazine work experience over the coming year so your tips were very helpful and insightful, thank you :)

  9. I was literally 15 mins ago browsing online stores for a cream/beige midi skirt! This was very helpful, it gave me more ideas than the one I had, which included just a basic top tucked in and a blazer. The first one is absolutely my favourite, I have to try it when I end up buying my own midi skirt!

  24. Love the outfits you've put together! I'm absolutely loving the midi trend, but sadly it really doesn't suit me :( I can either wear maxis or minis, midi just looks awkward on me. But I think it's a great piece for fall and winter! <3
