Afternoon lovelies! Hope you're all doing good and enjoying your day, roll on the weekend eh? Would you believe I've been writing this post since Tuesday?! My concentration levels are at an all time low, and I'm struggling to get words out even now. The best cure for writer's block is to write apparently, which is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard hahaha.

While I have already featured culottes as part of other installments of this series, Abby requested these as a garment. My little sister and I are suckers for a good pair of culottes, there's (almost) nothing prettier and modesty-proof than this garment! Between Louise - my sister! - and I, we own culottes from Miss Selfridge, Topshop, Primark, River Island, H&M and I'm sure we even have a pair of New Look ones in the mix. As you can imagine, there are hundreds of options at all different prices.

For those taller girls who may be worried about flashing their modesty (accidentally of course, what do you take me for?!), a pair of plain black cycling shorts will be your friend in any of these outfits. For an evening out or if you fear the chill, some tights might also help you out quite handily. Don't be afraid to size up if you want a longer 'leg-length', just compensate by fastening a skinny belt at your waist so your culottes don't slip and slide!

Supposedly, it is the Summer, so Look One encapsulates the I-am-abroad look while keeping things to a socially acceptable level. It is all too easy to look at a pair of culottes, grab a plain vest and leave the outfit at that: a striped strapless top will freshen the look up, and feel very 'holiday'. Go for a white top with navy stripes, as opposed to navy with white stripes, the colours will lift your entire outfit up. A knitted cardigan? In the Summer? Yes: I added the cardigan for a cover-up, and it'd be perfect for those late night barbeques, where you always end up a little too cold for your outfit, and everyone else is happily toasty by the fire. The loose-stitch, although impractical, is lovely and airy enough to wear as a daytime knit too.

Look Two is a night out look with a dark undertone. It's not something I'd neccessarily wear, but I think if I were to wear it, I'd add a cream/ivory DIY bow brooch on the centre of the neckline of the top. I absolutely adore the pleating on these culottes, it looks perfect with the girly print against a muted pinky red. I think the top would look best untucked in this Look: tucking it in would seem too prim and proper with a leather jacket in the mix. Wear two rings that coordinate and clash (black and gold, and then gold and black) on your middle and ring finger on the same hand, and pop a pair of wedges on. I dithered for ages over putting black wedges in this Look but decided on cream to freshen the look up.

Finally, an everyday, casual look for the Summer. Those sleeveless buttonthrough tops are still absolutely everywhere, and I think they look nice layered on top of each other. The white and black top will tone down that bright blue underneath, while still coordinating with the culottes. As with most of my Ways to Wear Looks, this can be interchanged: the double buttonthrough tops might not be to your tastes, or might not be warm enough/too layered and warm, for the occasion. You could always pop a cable knit jumper over the top for additional warmth. Found this sweet Secret Garden necklace on Forever 21 earlier, it looks 'expensive' at quite literally a fraction of the price. I spotted these RI sandals in the sale yesterday, they have a black version which would be perfect for this outfit, and I believe they are about £15? Gorgeous with this outfit for simple Summer chic.

Hope you all enjoyed this week's installment. Culottes are so easy to wear, there are thousands of outfit options. I wore them just yesterday in my outfit post, here in another outfit, and way back in my first 'proper' outfit post! Next week I'll be covering stripes, as requested by Jasmine. Have a lovely weekend!

  5. Ahhh I've missed your 'ways to wear' feature. Seems so long since I've read one. I'm so guilty of just wearing a plain top with my floral culottes, going to try the striped top. Great post as always :-)

  6. I love all of these, but especially the third, with the leather jacket :) Have you done WtW on maxi dresses? And if not, do you think you could? I want one, but I'm not sure how I'd style it...

  13. I have actually always been terrified to wear anything floral, but especially culottes. However, these outfits that you have created definitely make me want to give them a try! I think my favorite of these three looks is the first, but I really enjoy all of them.
