Decided to give you an insight into my week via phone photos this week. It's too much hassle to set the video camera up to take everyday photos like these, but I should have my new camera in a week or so, yay! So huge apologies if my grainy, Blackberry photos offend you ;)

I made chocolate truffles with my sister last Sunday, I would have included photos of the finished product but a) our presentation definitely left something to be desired, and b) they've all been scoffed now! • Watched some Harry Potter when I got up much earlier than the rest of my family • Finished reading 'Norwegian Wood' and mourned not being able to read more about Toru ): • Curled my hair on Monday for work: this is me pulling a stupid face for the camera as always • Ramen with choi sum and char siu for lunch • Starbucks, Mars muffin and roast chicken pittas - unhealthy as ever! • Flicked through some baby photos on Tuesday night, just before Dad left for three weeks in Malaysia: I'm the one with the dodgy middle parting and outgrown bob, my sister is in the cute dress and super-short fringe, and the bubba is my cousin! • Ice cream Coke float • Nando's! • Double swallow bow brooch worn with my playsuit today.

This week marks the start of a new month. I had planned on writing a little summary and June goals post but the opportunity hasn't arisen yet, so I'll tack it on the end of this one. May was a weird month for me: I worked pretty much full-time at our restaurant, with 5 days of horrendous 11-hour shifts. This led to incessant spending on my behalf, a day in London with my best friend, neglecting my internship hunt for a while, many laughs with colleagues at work, several meals of free food (Oh, to be the owner's daughter!) and I had a small blogging breakdown and almost decided to pack it in. Phew!

In June, my shifts have slowed down a little, so I'm hoping to get myself back on track this month. Things I am hoping to achieve include:
  • Read away from the laptop a little each day again.
  • Complete the 30 Day Shred.
  • Secure an internship.
  • Save at least £300 away ready for new-house-dom in July!
  • Drink more water: Summer always means dehydration for me for some reason ):

Hope everyone is doing okay! Having a topknot/lazy day today so I'll be reading blogs, sipping coffee and reading books all day, and I've got no problem with that haha! I probably won't be taking part in the #bbloggers chat tonight, I'll be at my Granny's house for a family meal with the cousins and everyone else. Love always ♥

  6. Well first off I'm so glad you decided not to pack it in - I feel like your blog is a little safety net for me, something that's always there to make me smile [corny or what :P]
Secondly, the mars muffin/chicken pitta meal sounds amaaazing, unhealthy shmunshmealthy.
And lastly, good luck with the internship search - I'm in desperate need to start a hunt now too...fingers crossed! x

    2. It makes me happy to see Asian veggies in that bowl...and to read the caption with the "English" words for the Chinese edibles!

    3. I think the goals list is a good idea. I should do one as well!

  15. Danni: :O Aw thank you so so much for saying that! I think the community vibe and reading everyone's comments is what actually kept me here to be honest. You, my twin, are a babe ;) Hahaha the Mars muffin was actually a little sickly, but a good idea in theory. Fingers crossed for you honey, internships just fell in my lap last Summer but it's a little more hard going this year ): xo

Alyse: Aahh you've totally reminded me that I need to email you my make-up less face! Please pester me on Twitter to get that done for you next week :-P Haha yey, I almost always eat Asian food at home... and simply couldn't be bothered to write the Chinese for the names when 99% of my readers can't read it ;)

Skye: They're quite hard to get just right, in my opinion! Gordon Ramsey has a really good recipe and technique on his website I believe, we have his book ;) xx

Beth: Thanks honey! So determined with my goals! xx

Victoria: Not giving up now, just switching things up a little bit (hopefully!) Thanks lover, I've done Level 1 but can't motivate myself to switch up to Level 2 hahaha. Also, I read your Tweet about your brother and then skin toner HAHAHAHA <3

Eloise: Aw thank you so much gorgeous (: Bleugh, long shifts are horrendous, I get so bored of being in the same place for hours every day haha! Hope you're well! xx

Sarah: Haha of course ;) I have a sneaky feeling that food will be my subject of choice when my DSLR camera arrives in a week! xx

Gem: :D Truffles are a little creamier and richer than chocolate, they were so good if I may say so myself. Blah long shifts kill me, I think I was a cat in a previous life :-P Thanks Gem Gem, am sure I'll be picking your brains for help/techniques when it arrives! xxxxx

Zoey: They were just lovely thank you (: Mm I love me-time more than anything! xx

  20. Amey: Definitely! I'm lazy... always :-P Can't wait to have my own place, so I can spend Sundays reading the newspaper supplements over a coffee and ignoring housework! Hope you're well!

Katy: Aw thank you so much, I used to hate having my hair curled and I can't get enough of it recently (: I'm glad I didn't quit too, I would have kept everything on here but realised that I love writing, and the lovely community too much to disappear! xx

    Cherry: Thanks love <3

Nic: I'm glad too haha, I'm too addicted to blogging to give up at the moment :-P That's so nice to hear, I'm glad you like my blog. Oh I pin mine to little cardigans, dresses, T-shirts... everything! xx

  32. Adrienne: Well there's no time like the present (: I really wanted to start taking more photos in general and it's grown into a little interest of mine now! Also, June 15th = Harry Potter day!

Keyta: Thank you lovely! Haha you're welcome ;) x

    Emma: I'm glad ;) <3

Clare: Haha good! Aw did you? I haven't found it too bad so far, am anticipating twice the pain when I begin Level 2 though, Level 1 felt too easy compared to my 7-hour dance workshop schedule I used to keep up :-P xx

Ria: Ooh I'd really recommend Norwegian Wood, it's a lovely story, really different and full of emotion and history. I've bought Never Let Me Go too! Might start reading it when I finish my current book (: And thanks sweet! xo

girlheartfood: It's very extreme! It really works though! I didn't find Level 1 too painful or strenuous but have lost 6lbs so far and definitely noticed a change in my body and fitness levels :D x

    Ichiban: I won't! ^_^ xx

rose petals: It's been lovely thank you! x

    Grace: Haha (:

Ella: Aw thank you! It was such a cute evening, lots of laughs, 'banter' and 101 Dalmatians! xxxx

Sarah: I LUV DA FOOD. Oh lord, imagine if I renamed it to spell Dayzee Buttah ;) It explores relationships, death in life, death, romance and is all from a university student's view during 1960 Japan (: Really recommend it! xx

Laura: Excellent ;) If I were a reader of my blog, I'd prepare myself with a mini meal and drink before loading a Sunday post to read! Ooop me too, very much worth it in the end! I do nothing but work and sleep, so the content of my posts are very monotonous at the moment ): Hope you are well Laura! xx

I've just started the 30 day shred, I'm on day 5 now, and I feel so much better about myself, and physically. The first few days were torture, particularly after me doing the exercise at 2am in the morning after 11 hours of work !

Aimee: Haha (: Food is one of my favourite things to take photos of! I studied food photography, styling and composition in my Fashion Styling unit at Uni the other week, and as a profession, it's bloody difficult! :-P Thank you lovely. xx

Emma: Oh indeed! Gem and I are total foodies! I actually have lots of unseen food photos from my month abroad a few years ago that I might share soon! xo

MonsterManiac: I'm awful at baking :-P Making truffles is about the extent of it! The Shred is a really good workout, it totally works, doesn't it?! xo

Charlene: Me too! Hate thinking about how calorific they are though, all that milk and sugar! Coke floats are so yummy, they make me feel all American retro/Grease-esque haha (: Thanks gorgeous, hope you had a nice weekend! xx

  46. Harry Potter, Murakami and noodles. Oh my it seems we have very similar tastes! I wish my parents owned a restaurant - I can't do much with a postman and a receptionist. If they happened to own a Chinese restaurant (sadly we lack the basic need of being Chinese) I would probably never leave it.

  49. Thanks for the sweet comments girls!

girlheartfood: I haven't done it all week, I've been awful! I will be next week though, and I use velcro strap weights on my wrists, and use cans of whatever we have in the kitchen as an extra weight. Really want to tone my arms so this was the best option! (:
