Missguided is one of those online boutiques that I've heard of countless times through the grapevine, and one that I've never taken the time to peruse properly. After falling in love with the Mariette wedges in cream on the website a few weeks ago, I had a good rummage through their goodies and have been pleasantly surprised so far.

I recently received an email from the lovely Sara about participating in the Missguided Social Style competition, which is currently running for bloggers in collaboration with their Facebook page. The idea is to create a look to showcase what you deem as the 'perfect look' for a Summer event. So here goes my attempts at creating two Summer event looks:

Get the look! 1. Whitney sheer cut-out jewel dress, £36.99;

Get the look! 1. Sidney flower buttoned detail front dress, £41.99;

I've already had my school prom, and two Summer Balls at college, and I'm awaiting my Graduation Ball (a year to go!), but couldn't resist putting together a prom look for the competition. I really like the idea of wearing something short, sweet and not too dressy to prom. My own prom was full of girls I didn't speak to in full-length gowns, guys in dodgy suits, and me in a 50's-esque full skirted dress and little heels. So if I had the chance, I'd wear one of these options, with some colour, and a dress that wasn't too casual or too dressy. I adore both of these dresses, I'm so tempted to order the Sidney dress, it'd look lovely in the day or evening! I'd also wear a hair garland with Blair Waldorf-esque "proper" waves to bring the second look together.

Get the look! 1. Sabrina racerback basic striped vest, £8.99;

One of the things I love doing in the Summer is just having a sweet little garden party. A barbeque, some sunloungers, a pitcher of something sweet, a pitcher of something to get your guests tipsy and some music is so perfect for those late Summer evenings. This outfit is something I've wanted from Topshop forever, so how handy is it that Missguided have one for a fraction of the price? I adore the Margaret lace trim shorts, I think I'll be DIY-ing a pair if not buying these on payday. Added another floral hair garland for extra whimsicality with loose, undone, bedhead waves.. Is that even a word?!

I suppose this is a little twist on my typical Ways to Wear posts. If you have a prom or garden party coming up, I'd really recommend having a look on Missguided, they have a lovely range of dresses and garments at such affordable prices. Don't forget to 'like' the Missguided Facebook page, voting begins on Thursday 16th June 2011 and I'd love for you to vote for me, if you liked my looks of course.

  7. Oh my prom was entirely the same, I ended up in Barbara Hulanicki dress that my old horrible PE teacher deemed to be 'innappropriate for prom' as it wasn't poofy enough. Sorry but I wouldn't be caught dead in a fairy costume...
    I love your outfits, particularly the last :)

  10. I LOVE THIS MICHELLE. You are fabulous at putting outfits together. I only wish that I followed my intuition while searching for my true prom dress, not something I thought everybody else would like. These are great outfits!

  14. Ooh Michelle these are beautiful! You always put so much effort into your ways to wear posts, they're so pretty - and not just because of the clothes! I really like all of these looks, esp the second one merely because I'd never think green and red could look so lovely [and unchristmassy] together!
    Good luck for the competition hun, I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you :D x

  39. Really love some of the designs at Missguided and the pieces you've picked out are fab. Having bought from them before though, slightly disappointed by quality- un stitched seams or wonky hems.
