As you read this post, I'm probably at work, and I will be until 11pm tonight. The fun life of me(!) Rather than leave the blog unloved and lacking a post, I thought I'd get up earlier and share Thursday's outfit with you. The only qualm of waitressing is probably the unsociable hours: I barely manage to speak to anyone other than customers on a work day! Photos were taken on my brother's video camera, hence the weird lighting, I can't wait until I can finally afford a better camera!

(Polka dot peter pan collar dress, Topshop;
Scallop hem denim shorts, DIY;
Tights, Primark;
Cupcake necklace, Borrowed from the sister!;
Rings, Topshop.)

I finally got round to DIY-ing my own scallop shorts, as Morven did a few weeks ago. I'm not completely happy with them yet, once I have a day off, I'm going to bleach them and probably add a lace pocket on the back, ready for the Summer! I must admit, it took me a lot longer than anticipated and was a bit fiddly, and I'm probably going to end up re-hemming them when I bleach them, etc. Tucked in my Topshop tunic - I thought the peter pan collar would look sweet and coordinates nicely with a scallop hem. I also borrowed a cupcake necklace from my sister, which is the perfect length to break up the black collar! I sometimes add a black bow brooch to change up the look.

Hope you're all having lovely weekends in the (kind of) sun. What are you all up to for Mother's Day tomorrow, if you live in the UK? I'm spending half of it at work with my Mama, and then spending the rest of my day working on Uni assignments. There's just no rest for the wicked in our household, I've spent the last three Mother's Days at work with Mum, serving food to other Mums and daughters! We've bought a beautiful bunch of flowers and luxury choccies to be delivered to the restaurant though, so hopefully Mum will be surprised in front of our fully-booked restaurant!

lovelovelove, michelle ♥

PS. Lulz at the Helvetica/Comic Sans April Fool's on Google's behalf yesterday, I managed to catch it on my break! Imagine if that happened "for good". Bleugh!
PPS. I won the lovely Vicky's giveaway yesterday, eeek, too excited to receive my goodies!

  22. Ooooooh, adorable! Amazing job on the DIY, I really think it looks lovely! I think I'll definitely have to have a go at scalloping some shorts for summer, hmmmm. I don't have enough shorts (seriously, I think I have, like, one pair :/)...

    As for mother's day, I think we're having a nice family lunch at home (as it is Sunday) for Richard's mum. It isn't mother's day in Australia, but I got my mum back at home a card anyway, haha. I won't be sending it until May, though, which is the month for mother's day in Aus!

  30. You look absolutely lovely as always; I love the second photo of you with your hair up, very cute.
    Really like the scalloped shorts - really like the idea of a lace pocket, I think that will be a really nice extra touch. The house we have moved into is full of scalloped blinds so I think even though they are clearly straight from the 70s our window dressings are very in this season! :)
