I've got a confession to make: by way of an update with my attempts at a Frugal February, I completely fell off the wagon with my no-spending habits over the weekend. I think that overall, I did really well with saving my money and not spending anything unnecessary, but then my everyday flats fell apart, so I bought a new pair of shoes... I got my Fashion and Cultural Influences essay grade back, and received a First, so celebrated with Alana, a belgian chocolate brownie and frappucino at Starbucks... Bought some jewellery including a JWLRY ring from Lily's shop... To make myself feel a bit better - definitely feeling guilty after about three weeks of frugal habits - I won't be spending anything until March!

Gosh, it feels like I haven't posted an outfit in absolutely ages. I've been slacking on them this month because of two main reasons: the first being that my camera has been crappalicious in recent weeks, and the second being that I've been a bit lazy on taking photos, instead devoting my time to Uni work. S'what I'm supposed to be focusing on really, eh? Anyway, this is a pretty standard outfit for me, when all else fails, I pop on a tunic and bodycon skirt! I added some long necklaces, a few bracelets and this beautiful scarf to break it up a bit, which in my opinion, really works, and brings the outfit to life. I picked the scarf up a few months ago now, it cost me about £4 from Lush, and the manager claims it is a locally sourced, vintage piece. Apparently Lush source their scarves at the same place as Topshop: crazy when you compare their retail prices!

My legs look so disproportionate to my body in this photo! These are the shoes I bought yesterday when on my mindless splurge (can you call it a splurge if it was only in Primark?!). I'd been lusting after a pair on the Urban Outfitters website for the longest time ever, and Ella always rocks the loafer look to utter perfection on her blog, so when I spotted these in Primark for just £10, I had to get them! Despite my Frugal February vow and temporary Wednesday Wants hiatus, I allowed myself to peruse the UO website last night and I want so much now, including this beyond beautiful dress. The price, however, not beyond beautiful at all.

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who commented on my post yesterday! It was quite unrelated to my blog in all honesty, but we were asked to post the review to our blogs "if possible", and I thought I may as well. The feedback and support was so lovely, I hope you all really enjoy the book if you were one of the ones who ordered it (or even downloaded it, modern technology noawdays...!) following my review. I think I will be keeping these types of reviews coming every so often, I may even join Gem's book club once this silly amount of Uni work is done with. Also, as a disclaimer, I'm sure you've noticed that my writing styles are quite different between Uni work and my blogging, just as it varies slightly in my freelance work: I totally think this is a required and useful tool in journalism, as I'll be likely to write for a variety of publications in the future! My blog is much more "me" and informal!

Well. I think that's quite enough from me today, I always manage to cram so much into my outfit posts, they are my chance to talk to you all a little bit more! I'd better face this mountain of assignment work so I can allow for valued Sims 3 time this evening, and prepare tomorrow's post for you ;)

PS. Lulz at my post title! Was taken from Pixie Lott - Nothing Compares, the only place I've walked to today is blimmin' Uni and back ;)

  16. Why have I not seen these loafers in Primark?!?! They are gorgeous! You did do really well with not spending money :) Butyou have to treat yourself every now and then, I was going to purcahse a ring from lily, but I didn't even realise she had them on sale and they were sold out so quick! 23. Dan: Thank you (: Yeah they sell them either on their own, or as a gift wrap method, quite clever really, and such a bargain for the quality of it!

Ash: ;) Thanks sweet. I've spent a lot less on food too, I'd been trying to embrace all aspects of the challenge!

Onna: N'awh thanks lovely. Ooh have you? Shall drop you a text in a bit, I'm here all month so will probs be able to meet you! Yeah they are a gift wrap option, really pretty!

Chloe: Blimmin' Primark sizing! Thanks sweet (: Hope you can find some loafers to fit you!

Vic: Thank youu (: Ugh I should've bought back-ups too really, I never think of things like that! Love you too x

    Sarah: Thanks (:

Irene: Hahaha! I'm so glad that there isn't a MAC counter in Soton! Usually annoyed about it, but it means I'm not tempted, as I still have pans to fill in my palette. Yeppy, Primark and at a mere £10!

Laura: They're beautiful! But there were hardly any left in my Primark when I snapped these bad boys up. Haha I wanted an oversized one originally but the store site was being funny so I settled for a regular turquoise ring in the end, excited to receive it (: Thank you Laura <3

    Monika: Thank you!

    Lily: Thanks sweet!

Sophie: Eeep thanks! I thought I did quite well too, but this weekend was awful haha, just had to have a bit of a spend! Thank you, so so happy, it was such a difficult essay!

Elise: Thank you (: H&M have such a huge selection of basics and in so many colours too, they're always my go-to for basics to pair with leggings. x

    Heather: Why thank you (:

Kelly: N'awh thanks poppet! I know right! I checked charity shops etc. as I thought they'd have some and I'm on the tightest budget, but couldn't find any to fit me. Aaaah are you lovely? Whereabouts are you from? xx

    Cherry: ;D x

  33. Prettyy outfit! ♥

Frugal Feb didn't work out for me too :( buying one item lead to more and more purchases. I'm determined to try again soon until I do a full month! ^^

I love LUSH's scarves, they use it for gift wrap, we can use it for fashion purposes :D I need to check if they have any new ones soon :P (OMGOSH no I don't, there I go wanting to spend again! LOL)

Good luck with the no spend! xxx

  35. Bella: Thanks gorgeous (: Hope you had a lovely birthday last week!

Ann: Thank you, can't help but wear grey when the weather is as dismal as it has been recently!

Emma Jayne: Thank you lovely! Haha gosh I know, I spent so long on it last night, and then couldn't sleep because my brain was in Sims-mode ;)

Dollyfaces: Thanks (: Aaah do they?! Didn't have a proper browse of Primark, but I'd imagine they would to be honest!

    Cintia: Thank you!

Nicola: Thank you! Mmm I know, I really want it but it's just so unaffordable on a student budget! They should totes start a student-budget collection ;) Whacking out the ideas tonight...!

Vicky: Haha I lasted until my shoes broke, but other than that, a ring, shoes and a brownie isn't too bad (: My Mum said she'd let me off because it was in celebration of a Uni grade ;) Aha, I haven't let myself in Lush for a long, long time now! You too (:

Kate: Aaah maybe! Need to work out how to tie it first!

    Kirsty: Thanks (:

  38. You look gorgeous in yur photos as always Michelle, i really like that scarf, goes well with your outfit! Also, i think you were doing amazing with Frugal February, and it was more of a necessity than a luxury that your shoes decided to die and you needed a new pair, so pat yourself on the back, you definately did better than i would of done! xxx

  39. i love the scarf + shoes; they go hand in hand! xo

  41. Love this outfit - you look lovely! Totally understand about your little break in Frugal February, we all need a bit of retail therapy sometimes :) That UO dress is gorgeous! *sigh* at the price xo

  42. I also love that you avoid town during half term too, no asda shop during half term so a luxurious sainsbury's one it is.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Amy: Thank you for following lovely, means so so much! Haha yes you do, £10 is a bargain next to Topshop's £30/£40 version! Aha I don't feel too bad, the things I did buy were all £10 or under each, so I'm safely back to no spending for the remainder of Feb (:

Emma: Haha indeed! Back on the no spending, I don't have money to spend so it shouldn't be too hard really!

Courtney: Thank you sweet. Haha I keep telling myself that too!

Fern: Thanks lovely! It isn't something I'd typically wear, but I really like the ensemble!

Claire: Thank you sweetie, I feel like a little girl in this outfit - think it's because of the shoes! I really want to stock up on scarves, I might ask my Gran if she has any "going spare", as I've spotted some Hermes and Chanel in her collection before!

Laura: Thank you! Peer. Pressured. ;) I had managed over three weeks which is pretty good going for me! Oh I know, isn't it just?! I've found a 10% discount code, but still can't justify the price to be honest!

Chlo: Hahaha very true! I still have reasonably stocked food cupboards, fridge and freezer so I'll be sorted, town is a complete no-no for me this week!

Bee: Oh gosh really? I really want to buy more scarves, I may snoop around the house when I head home this weekend and see what I can find ;) Haha I'm trying to console myself in the sense that I did need shoes, and the rest were mini well done pressies to myself!

Kitty: Thank you (: Haha yeah I popped in on my home from Uni, such a mistake, town was packed!

Amy: Awh that's so lovely, I want to get more into scarves, they're so versatile and really dress an outfit up!

Rose: Thank you! Haha my Barbie pink nails ;) Tackylicious!

Sian: Thank you (: Lololololol, my reasoning exactly! Without the alliteration, it makes it that little bit more difficult to attain. Thanks lovely, so so happy with it :D
