Well. I'm not going to lie, this has been the most uneventful two weeks of my entire life. As I write this, I'm sat in my room, watching The Big Bang Theory from the beginning... Again. We were told that these two weeks of Uni were compulsory, yet I've probably been in Uni for about half an hour in total? You would be hard pressed to find an episode of BBT, Gossip Girl or Ouran High School Host Club that I haven't rewatched over this fortnight! Was supposed to go to the cinema with a friend tonight, but he's headed home to visit family. Sad facee!

(Tunic, H&M;
Floral culotte shorts, Topshop;
Tights, Primark;
Belt, Primark;
Owl ring, H&M;
Stackable rings, from a stack of three at Topshop;
Necklace, Accessorize;
Scrabble bracelet, VIPXO.)

Nothing new in my outfit again! I'm hoping to shop 'til I absolutely drop either tomorrow or Monday, I've got a list of must-buys that I want to add to my wardrobe! I hadn't thought about pairing these two items together, but I felt like these shorts deserved a day out, and it is still seriously cold in the flat, so I grabbed one of my H&M tunics to wear with it. I actually quite like these together, I wouldn't normally put these colours together, but it looks quite nice and "fresh"? Also wearing this beautiful nail colour today: it was a Christmas gift from my friend Selina, and isn't something I would necessarily pick out myself. It's Dior's Haute Couleur in Mandarin Orange, a beautiful coral-orange colour with the tiniest iridescent shimmer bits in. So pretty!

Today I baked cupcakes, using Milly's recipe, out of sheer boredom. I'm not much of a baker in all honesty, but it's something I want to learn and develop over the year. My first batch of cupcakes of the year were... okay, I messed up the buttercream as I always do, and it wasn't the right texture - just a little too runny! I asked for recipes etc. on Twitter last week, and have now got a mini recipe book full of ideas to try out (:

Right, well I'd better go and get started on eating these cupcakes. It's a hard life, but someone's gotta eat them, and there's no-one home at the moment! Also going to add to my list of things to buy I think, I know I really shouldn't be spending money at the moment, but sometimes a bit of retail therapy is all you need! Hope you all have lovely weekends!

  5. Laura: I know ): A waste of money too, I've spent so much money just on food since I've been back, bleugh! Thanks lovely, I quite like the way the colour of the tunic sets off the more vibrant colours in the shorts (: Owh exciting, post photos if you do! I want to make marble cupcakes soon but have never mastered the technique! xx

    Rose: Thanks lovely! Ooh me too, I am totes buying the rings I featured on the blog on Wednesday! Aha, I shall send some your way sweet!

    Claire: I hadn't watched it in about two years! Needed a bit of a giggle last night though, so popped my DVD on (: xx

    Sarah: Thanks cupcake! This is possibly the only floral piece left in my wardrobe ): I'm trying to interpret the "trend" in a more subtle way this/next season. Oooh I always watch Friends while I make and/or eat dinner, bit of a tradition in our household that I carry on here! x

  8. Belle: Owh thanks poppet! I am pretty much a failure when it comes to baking, quite pleased with my cupcakes other than the fail buttercream! Thanks lovely, Semester Two starts on Tuesday so hopefully I'll be keeping busy again soon, hope you're well. xxxx

    Pyxiee: Thank you lovely (: I have a slight obsession with peter pan collars at the moment, totally got my flatmate into them as well haha! xx

  10. Those shorts are lovely!! I have some similer ones and I live in them haha! Also the rings are so nice; I'm turning to a right freak on the look out for beautiful rings at the moment! Topshop have a similer owl ring however yours looks alot nicer (its slightly bigger I think). As you mentioned the look does look fresh!

    The cakes look delish! I'm rubbish at baking so I may have to take a leaf out of your book and have a go!

  12. Dan: Oh lord... That's such a long break! I wouldn't mind if I was at home, or if I had some plans to fill my time up with, but at the moment I'm just wasting my life away aha. Thank you, feels a bit summery for the current weather conditions, but I like it (:

    Katie: Thank you (: They're so comfortable and versatile haha, I don't blame you! My ring collection is slightly ridiculous, but I can't stop adding to it! x

    Lucy: Haha it's just a cotton top as far as I know! I did have to use flash on these photos so that might be why! Oh you should (: xx

  13. Aww i feel like eating cupcakes now. My cakes always tend to come out wrong, i just don't have the knack to baking. I've been meaning to try out milly's recipe. I will soon hopefully!

  14. the jewellery and nail colour is so beautiful, i have that owl ring! its a bit big on me though :( the colour of that top looks great on you xx

  15. Anna: Me either, I was so surprised that these actually taste okay! I usually just opt for one of those ready-made packets that you stir together and whack in the oven. I really would recommend Milly's recipe and method though, going to try her Rocky Road recipe too soon! xxx

    Sian: Thanks lovely (: Yeah I bought a small and it's a little too big, I usually put a plain band on next to it to keep it in place though! Thank you! xx

  19. If your buttercream is too runny just add more icing sugar til you get to the right consistency. I never weigh out buttercream ingredients as I've made so much of it now and find it's better when I do it by eye. I too swear by the hummingbird bakery cookbook, their vanilla are defo my favs xx

  21. I know exactly how you feel, the past week has been spent just lounging around doing absolutely nothing. I'm actually looking forward to going back to uni and getting back into my usual routine.

    These photos look lovely! Your outfit is gorgeous, and those shorts are making me wish it was Summer right now! I love your necklace too.

    Hope you've had a great weekend lovely! xo

  22. Looking lovely as per usual, Michelle! The colours look lovely together and I LOVE the Dior polish! It's got such a lovely name too. ALSO YOUR CUPCAKES LOOK AMAZING, they're making me want to do some baking tomorrow but it's so expensive buying each ingredient, I think we only have flour in the cupboard that would be of any use in any sort of recipe!
    I'm excited to see your purhcases from your spree, I hope you manage to get everything you want :) xx

  23. I love, love, love your outfit! And the nail polish is perfect for the spring time, which really needs to come soon! Yummy baking too :) The last picture is my favorite, with the rings showing. Stellar!

  26. Helen: Aaah I've had so many recommendations for their recipe! I do want to try their red velvet cupcake recipe at some point, sounds a bit ambitious at this point though (: xx

    Aimee: N'awh thank you! I do like simplicity and minimalism with most of my outfits. Especially on days when I'm just at Uni, or running errands! Ooop you totally should!

    Elise: Thank you sweety! x

    Sarah: It was "perfect" but after I'd let the cupcakes cool down, the buttercream had started to soften right down?! Waaaa, a rookie's mistake really! xx

    Alyse: Thank you :D I've got a Uni DSLR camera on loan until Monday, makes me realise how badly I need a new camera! I might shoot an outfit post in advance today for Tues... Even though I don't believe in doing that aha. xx

    Jess: Me too! I'm actually quite excited to get to grips with Uni again, and get all my new briefs, which sounds v geeky haha! Thanks lovely, I wanted to start lifting my wardrobe out of its' Winter obscurity, hopefully today's shopping trip will sort me right out! xxx

    Lucy: Thank ya Lucy! I'm such a sucker for nice product names (: Oh gosh, flour on its' own doesn't suffice! I'm sure you must have butter, eggs and sugar somewhere?! Thanks sweet, feels like I've not shopped in ages, been over three weeks now :O Proud? ;) xx

    Monica: Thank you lovely (:

    Dylana: Thanks sweet! It is the perfect colour for spring, really on trend as well! x

    Emma: That's what time off is for I suppose ;) I'm such a TV drama obsessive haha, no doubt tonight will be more of the same! Thank you! My jewellery collection is pretty haphazard at the moment: most of my most-worn pieces are still at home - fail! ): xx

  28. I hate having to be in uni for such short periods of time, half an hour meetings are so pointless! I love your owl ring though :) Baking is a matter of practice makes perfect, have you tried The Hummingbird Bakery Cookbook? It's really great and the recipes are so easy to follow :)

  29. Shope: Thanks lovely! Relatively recently... I think they should still be in there! (:

    Sarah: Me too! They were just for feedback, i.e. the lecturer reading out from a sheet, telling us what they thought of our assignments. Thank you for the recommendation, a lot of people have told me the same thing, I'm bidding on a copy on eBay at the moment! x

  34. Ifee: Thank you (: I'll be able to shoot mine against a plain background without my mirror in it once my tripod arrives, sometime next week. Thanks, I bought them about two years ago though, so you might be hard pressed finding them ^___^" x

    Ashleigh: Thank you! Haha me either, I wasn't doing much yesterday so figured if it didn't "go" well, it wouldn't matter too much. I still have some leftover, not sure whether to scoff the lot or not! xxx

    Lily: Thank you (:

    Bee: Thank you! I'm a bit obsessed with this buttery, camel colour to be honest! xx

  38. Danni: Oh thank you lovely! I'm contemplating shooting my outfit photos in a landscape layout in the future, will allow for more detail seeing as my facial expressions are always ridiculous, and I don't wear interesting shoes anyway (: We shall see! xxx

    Ellio100: Thank you! I lovelove this colour, not something I would have usually picked out!

    Steph: N'awh thanks Steph! Oh no ): Our store is quite good, if not a bit haphazardly presented and hard to navigate! Thank youuu, big loves to Victoria for making it eh? I lovesss it! xxx

  41. Naomi: Eeek, I really don't want to return it ): Am now considering just a really nice quality point and shoot with decent lens over a proper DSLR though, an SLR is much more difficult to whack in my bag! N'awh thanks lovely! I'm in a proper baking mood at the moment, everyone keeps blogging about their latest creations + I utterly fail next to them!

    Hannah: Thank you! I love loose fitting tops like these (: Mmm they were! I have three left but they're going a bit stale now and I can't justify eating another right now! xxx

  42. That nail varnish is beautiful! Don't worry about the cupcakes, it all takes practice, i'm the baking queen in our family, any excuse and i'll whip up some muffins or flapjacks or a fire engine birthday cake... Haha
