Just a couple of weeks ago, I blogged about another experience of being ‘madeover’ for free at the Benefit counter in Southampton, and being tempted to add to my ever expanding collection. I’m not going to lie, this (along with the gorgeous, unique packaging!) is what initially drew me towards trying Benefit. I think I was 14 when I first tried Benefit, and bought the Dr Feelgood Lipscription, which is repurchase I’ve made many times since!

Our local Boots in sunny Stevenage recently got revamped, and now includes a Benefit counter, along with some other higher end brands such as Yves Saint Laurent. So as you do, I had a sneaky peek at the products they offered and… Meet the latest addition to my Benefit family!

‘That Gal’
£20.50 – 11ml

This was one of the products that the assistant used on me in Southampton, and I fell in love with it. I have a pretty clear and even complexion, and I don’t use or particularly need foundation, and also, the assistant told me I’d get away with using this product and then a bronzer or blush with it. I absolutely love the customer service that comes along with the Benefit ‘package’- it must be a prerequisite for the job to be smiley and endearingly happy!

Benefit describes this product as a ‘brightening face primer’. You can wear it alone, or underneath other products, and you can also use it to top-up your makeup throughout the day which is handy! What I also like about this product is that a little goes a long way, you literally only need a tiny amount for your entire face. This is also true for many of their other products.

When applied to the face, That Gal has a dewy, almost shimmery sheen to it, which leaves you looking fresh faced but not shiny. It is also moisturising, so your make-up doesn’t look cakey/dry, and it smells loooovely and fruity too, bonus!

What are your overall experiences with Benefit?

M x.

  1. I adore Benefit, and That Gal is one of my must have products. I use it either as a primer or just on its own on days when I don't want to wear makeup, and it really evens my skintone out <3 xx

  2. I wore it today; it is so lightweight, and I didn't need to touch it up at all! Benefit is a little too amazing, I also love their range of blushes and bronzers :) Followed your blog back :) x

  3. I've never used Benefit make up but i'm thinking of investing because everyone raves about it! Love your blog Michelle, it looks so pretty <3

    Stacey xx

  4. It's definitely worth it! The only thing is once you start buying Benefit, you just don't stop, it's slowly burning a hole in my bank balance :p <3

  5. Mmm so do I! Damn my local Boots for having a new Benefit counter, I can see all of my money going towards their prods! <3

  6. I bought this at sephora and i adore it :P great post

  7. i'm so glad you did a post on this. that gal is at the very top of my beauty wish list right now. i want to try a different primer as i'm wearing a lot less makeup recently. and from what you have just said, as well as others, i really think this is exactly what i need :)

quick question though.. how much do you use for each application? at £20 i'd espect it to last a decent amount of time. i realise it's great and wouldn't be a waste but i dont want to fork out £20 every few weeks xx

  8. @abbzzw: You are most welcome lovely! It's a light brightening primer, so you can wear it on its own if you don't want to wear too much make-up. I use one-two pumps of it (the bottom kind of turns, and the product comes out of the top) which is plenty and gives me good coverage. :) Oh I totally understand about not paying loads all the time, most of my Benefit prods tend to last a while! xxxx

  9. I recently purchased the BADgal waterproof liner and it`s really good. Better than MAC because it does not smudge.

I will be doing a full review of this product over the weekend so keep an eye on my blog if you are interested.
