I'm currently suffering from a serious bout of Blogger's Block. I feel like I have nothing particularly interesting to write about, so I don't want to bore you :) I'm also nearing the end of my first year at Uni, how scary does that sound?! Everything is a blur of nights in with ice-cream and DVDs, hand-ins for final assignments and this ridiculous portfolio work that I'm still working on. I will hopefully be able to show you my final pieces once everything is handed in and finalised.

Recently my fashion obsession has been summery sundresses. I've always loved the idea of wearing sundresses, a floppy straw hat (yes really!) and gorgeous Kurt Geiger sandals in the summer, but owing to the temperamental British weather, I've never had the chance to, nor the motivation to go and find these said dresses.

Last Thursday, I went to Cambridge to visit my friend for shopping, lunch and general girly catch-up times. Cambridge is a tiny bit amazing for shopping and pretty garden/park views, if you haven't been already, you should definitely take a trip there! Florence (my friend) and I ended up trawling the huge three-floor Topshop, where I bought this simple but gorgeous sundress:

I've worn this with a tan skinny plait belt, a few simple bracelets, statement ring and black T-bar ruffle sandals, to my sister's birthday meal and celebrations. I also think this would look nice with black accessories and black 'gladiator' heels! It's literally such a simple garment, you can dress it up, down, (and all around) and it would still work! Oooh and it was only £16 - bargainous!

On Friday, I then went shopping again, this time for a dress to wear to a wedding. I love weddings and a good ol' excuse to get dolled up. I ended up choosing a Blair Waldorf dress from the Miss Selfridge for Gossip Girl collection. I know, I know, I posted an entry full of negativity towards the collection, but just as I said, once I had tried on a Blair, both Serena's and a Jenny, I was completely in love with the dresses! At £45, the dress did not come cheap, but the waist cinches in so well, and the ruffles are SO Blair Waldorf. What else is better than feeling like you're at a wedding on the Upper East Side? ;)

As well as these two purchases, I've been on the search for a pretty playsuit or three to add to my currently meagre collection. While on this almightly search, I came across these little gems on I've never been a big fan of this website. In fact, I'll admit I hadn't even looked on the site before; I much prefer to shop at Topshop, H&M, Urban Outfitters, and other brands that are well-known etc. But having seen the most adorable little playsuits on, I must admit, I am a little bit converted! £16 for a playsuit is incredible!

What are your staples for this summer? Any 'hidden gems' of websites that we should all know about?

  1. Costume designers did an amazing job with Blair Waldorf's wardrobe. She's so glam. I'm loving dresses for spring.

  2. Hi Michelle!:D

I love sundresses too. Here in California it gets really hot in the summer, we either wear dresses or tank tops and shorts.

I think the Blair Waldorf dress is really pretty, the price.. not so much!

I hope you are having a lovely week, Michelle!:D
...and everything girly under the sun!

& today i went shopping & i saw this super cute playsuit at zara! i might go back & buy it :)

but i actually was looking for a jacket/trench coat (it's been so cold again the last days), but there was literally not one single decent jacket or coat in the stores, bummer :/ i have to keep looking...

good luck for your last uni assignments!!!

  4. @Melanie: I know, everything is so appropriate to the character, especially Blair's, although I miss her headbands :( Thank you for the comment ♥

@Marie: Hello you! Aw I'm so jealous, it never gets 'really hot' in the UK, other than the occasional random heat wave, which is then followed up with about a week of rain! The prices are a bit overpriced, but they are beautiful and really well made ;) Hope you're having a great week! ♥

@Summer: I know, I'm in love with it! Ah you should ;) I haven't looked in Zara in a while :O Uniqlo usually have some cute trench coats! Oooh, I will see if I can get into London around that time :) Thank you sweety, hope work is going well ♥

  5. I am having a great week!:D Oh, please don't be jealous, it could be burning hot here!

  6. Glad to hear it sweety :) Haha, I am particularly jealous today, it looks like it's about to pour down with rain at the moment, and I'm off to a vintage fair later! XO
